The IBM Sametime is now available as a free download on Apple Store for both iPhone and iPad owners.The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 2.9 MB to download. The new IBM Sametime app version 8.5.2.5 has been updated on 2014-11-27. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. Don t get me wrong I absolutely am a huge fan of IBM but this app os horrible It is constantly crashing app dose one thing when you tell it do do something ells has a mind of its own I communicate with a co workers around the globe and many times we resort to using whatApp because one of us can t seem to show the other user we are online And if you are not online it won t let you send a message Also when you type the keypad takes up 50 of the screen 10 to let you know they are typing and 10 their name leaves what feels like 30 of chat room IBM seriously need to spend more time on app development I would say this is the IBM BUGGED UP APP     Horrible IBM Connections user

My friends who have older devices are still able to use this app which hasn t had the name changed from Sametime but I m running the application with the same proxy and port as they are and getting bad results It imports new cut group names but doesn t delete old ones It disconnects my connection on other devices and shows me as available but doesn t show any other users as being online and doesn t send me the messages they type     Doesn t work on iPhone 6 NorthWest1620

For those leaving poor reviews I can t help but think you re trying this on your own with no knowledge of what server port etc that you need You may also need to VPN into your corporate network to access your Sametime servers You need to ask your IT administrator for the appropriate settings etc if you expect it to work at all The app works great as a secure real time communication tool It is consistently updated and improved which is great No complaints once you get past the initial setup                     Works great bu11frogg2

IBM always does the absolute minimum when it comes to writing code Their public software offerings are bottom of the barrel Lotus Notes Sametime etc are shinning examples I don t know if the company isn t paying their employees competitive salaries or leadership just doesn t care Probably both     A Pre Schooler Could Write Better Code Sailin' Shoes

Sametime is not organizing messages by time They come in and are placed in random order New messages get randomly placed at the top bottom or middle of a conversation making it impossible to keep track of a discussion         New version has serious problems CarKollector

The app works perfectly fine Allows to login n perform the activities intended to But there the app is not complete yet here is what I found should be fixed for better usability 1 Logs out when app is in background Ex while working on sametime if another app is opened the user logs out n everytime app is opened user needs to login The only workaround is that user creds can be save to allow auto login 2 The chat history gets skewed and chat history is not readable Sometimes it looks as if the chat history is displayed as latest on top not the conventional view but this is not true as the following chat displays latest chat at bottom making it skewed 3 The notification is not user friendly Instead of showing short ID it would be better to display the full name The message notification on notification center can show a bit of some message unless it is ok from enterprise regulations         Works but lots of bugs rajrecw

I find it useful if you want to send a message but as soon as you switch to any app you are no longer able to receive messages until you open it again Also if you do not change the configuration about the time you remain online someone might send you a message but you will never receive it UNLESS you open the app Messages sent are not visible when you log in to your computer     Doesn t support background mode Swatcat_Zerg

The app works perfectly fine up until the phone is locked Once locked Sametime disconnects and you have to exit the app and re open to connect again Basically defeats the purpose of having an away status available         Functionality needs work Itworxbro

This app does not utilize the apple notification feature corporate devices have fairly short lock out times App is not useful unless you are notified that someone has sent u a message While iPhone is locked fix this for a 5 star rating     Under featured Christopher Clark

The 9 0 1 release of the iOS app fixed the contacts issue It now appears to work perfectly I am so very glad that IBM took the bug reports seriously and resolved the issue quickly Many thanks My faith is restored                     Well Done Richard Wessels

What a terrible app It connects and allows IM as it should but if your iPad sleeps while you are connected then you are done When you wake it the app attempts to reconnect forever and cannot be stopped The iPad has to be rebooted So as long as you have a quick chat session and you disconnect before your iPad sleeps you can probably make it work     Terrible App Rhoadesco
