Hymnals is a remarkable app that brings all the elements of your favorite hymnal and more right to your iPad. The app is free through it you can purchase the hymnals you need. Included at ...
Since an update a few months ago I have an issue when I create a list For example I will create a list for a wedding or funeral and once I add a song I will get about 20 30 other songs added to the list I delete them and then they are gone until I add another song Then they all appear back Sometimes I get the same list of 20 30 two or three times making it a real pain to delete them all I use this app all the time and the lists weren t always like that An this be fixed Does it happen to anyone else             Issue with Lists mposings
October 5 update did not fix the list issues Having to recreate all of my lists     Most recent update DNF0330
This has been my go to app for Sunday ever since it was released I feel like my attention to Mass has been greatly improved since I m not looking for our next hymn to sing I would like to see the hymns available for direct purchase to cut out having to Dropbox it and to be able to get rid of the GIA requirement to buy 5 copies of pdfs when all I need is one copy Additionally the Cry Out Solemnities should be available for hymnal purchase I d love the app to become the iTunes of church music Give me one place to buy and you d have my money and appreciation Thx                 My Go To for being a prepared choir member Love joy 2
The IOS version is only available for IPad not IPhone I installed the Free App which had one sample so I wasn t as informed as I could have been prior to ordering The App only gives and audio snippet of the hymns I don t read music very well so it is not as helpful to me as it could be         GIA Hymnals Kburgerman
NULL NULL NULL FIX THIS PLZ     VIRUS Jenny back up
This app was running great until the last update in July 2016 Now y cannot search for a song because it closes the application So y need to fix         Newer bugs Masterwoman
This is fixed now and very quickly after the problem was discovered It was an Apple issue Works great                     Hymnal purchases not loading Pawpaw CM
This is infinitely better than holding a 10 lbs hymnal Thank you for creating this option                     Staff Singer Ktretardson
There is a purchase listing of expensive versions available without sign in to anyone using this App the pull down area is usually used to find a hymn list from the pull down menu EXPENSIVE VERSIONS usually not available within an App     Selling App w pull down touch to order expensive versions vi of NorthernCalif.
I purchased a 25 hymnal but it won t download to my device Error after error It s incredibly ironic that when I tap on the visit our help site link nothing happens Ridiculous     Nice in theory beensaved
The jury is still put on this app I purchased the Gather 3 Guitar hymnal instead of purchasing the spiral bound or loose leaf editions Many hymns are more than one page the app displays only one page and there is no way to play guitar flip pages on an iPad I had thought I would be able to print from the app and I would do what I have done for years spread the pages out on my music stand sadly no this is not possible there is no printing ability If GIA does not allow printing from the app I would suggest an autoplay feature perhaps even incorporating a metronome so the musician can set the tempo However I think GIA should offer BOTH of these capabilities It just makes sense It would also make sense to be able to print the music list you create instead of having to e mail as a download             Good concept MaChickie
I am a church musician and was elated that I could purchase this hymnal for my iPad Unfortunately when I upgraded to the iPad Air the LMGM hymnal app did not transfer to the new device Apple informed me that purchases from GIA are only good for the device it is purchased for If your device is lost or updated you must purchase it again I was not aware of this and not happy about it This was the only app I could not transfer to my new iPad Everyone should be aware of this fact before purchasing GIA hymnals         Lead Me Guide Me Hymnal GIA MelReeb
Since the last update the app has started crashing when selecting a song     App Crashes connorkeef
It might be more helpful if GIA also made their hymnals available via other sheet music apps as well This is proprietary to their hymnals which they certainly have the right to do but it doesn t make sense in actual church use We use music from several publishers and having to switch back and forth between apps isn t practical When hymnals are available only as an in app purchase GIA loses sales that they would make if one could also purchase PDF versions of their stuff at their website for use in apps like ForScore GIA offers great music but they need to think beyond a proprietary app as their only digital delivery method I eagerly downloaded this but once I realized that this was the only method for having GIA s hymnals on my iPad I deleted it         Not practical in a church setting Changed4Good
I LOVE the idea of making the GIA hymnal available for iPad I downloaded the Choir version without question However I am not pleased with my initial interactions First off and I know this seems silly I wish the hymn numbers were at the top of the pages If I am going to use this on the go I want to visually see the numbers without having to search for them again Secondly I wish there were audio samples they don t seem to be available If GIA would fix the bugs and finish the physical tangible C instrument books that go with the Gather 3 Hymnal they could have an exceptional product             Good Idea not so great execution musikid5
This app is barely more than a pdf viewer It would be nice to have basic features like being able to view 2 pages in landscape view the ability to add notations faster page turning more flexible options in organizing choir lists and better accessibility to imported files ie not having to scroll past every imported file or only referencing the imported files by the number in which they were imported The worst WORST part of this app is that it doesn t include all of the content from the published books NO READINGS are included in the basic or choir downloads Sad Just sad         Missing content and features JGressleyJr
Can t say I ve enjoyed this App too much as of yet since I m waiting to be able to access the Lead Me Guide Me hymnal But I m looking forward to using this tool             Waiting for Lead Me Guide Me GaBrotha
I have had this app for a while I ve read problems reported through their report site and posted there recently A problem with the G3 Choir crashes the app when going to 519 Sing to the Mountains After numerous attempts at deleting the app reinstalling the latest version and then confirming my purchase for redownload the problem is still there despite the fact the support site said this glitch was fixed months ago I have an iPad 2 with the latest OS 6 0 1 The app version is 1 3 Because of the crashes the app is useless to me I had hoped to purchase the 110 keyboard edition but I don t want to risk wasting more money in this app if it is this unreliable     App crashes and old problems still unfixed 741963852
This lack n app did not and after over 3 months still does not live up to what it said it will do such as audio I wish I could get my 20 back I paid for the hymnal     CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK Lost$20+
I do not like the worship songs it is different from the samples that was shown you can not find song and when you want to play the audio it says it is not available I will appreciate if I can get my money back     4 worship fourth E HOkuns
As a choir member and cantor this idea is very appealing But it really is not usable without the capability to make marks or annotations on the music I also agree with other reviewers that the hymnals themselves should be cheaper than the physical books         Great Idea but needs more work to be useful SGrengs
After playing around with the app I would agree that while the app is great in concept in reality it is not worth it yet The reason The in app prices are the same as the print editions of the hymnals even though there s no paper or hard cover binding I feel most users like myself would use this as a supplement to the physical hymnal rather than a full out replacement Most e books are much cheaper than their print counterparts so it would be nice to see a similar price structure here Perhaps a way for purchasers of a physical copy to get an e copy for free or reduced price would also be nice As a composer myself I firmly believe that the folks who have given us this wonderful music deserve fair compensation However I also believe that the electronic versions of the hymnals should have a lower cost I would love to use this or another similar app but honestly don t want to pay twice for the same material especially when the keyboard editions become available     Great idea not economical Amac923
This is a great app I just got an iPad and quickly downloaded this app Many of our choir members have iPads and are looking into getting the choir edition app as well The only problem I see is that there is no way to take notes Is it possible to have a feature where you can write on the song or at least make a note that would be visible when you visit a particular song For example which verses to sing harmony on Dynamic markings etc That s the only feature that seems to be missing Also some recordings don t play most the mass settings Otherwise good app                 Good app MikeZorner
I like the app would like to see the accompaniment version as soon as possible                 Accompaniment Dfthli
While it will be nice to see how this app develops I can already say that it has changed the way I work I substitute regularly as an organist in 4 Catholic churches three of which use the new Gather I can upload future gigs to the app in seconds and in some cases with the Choir edition play right from the app I for one would be happy to pay for accompaniment versions if and when they become available Many thanks to GIA                     Great app Bobcwt
I think this is a great app I am Director of Music at a church and will definitely be purchasing the Gather Accompaniment version when it is released That said I would love to see an option where you can add your own files to your service lists in this app My church uses OCP s Breaking Bread and while I will be purchasing the Gather Accompaniment book it would be great to have the option to add other non Gather accompaniment charts to this for those songs not contained in Gather III This would also be helpful for those parishes using an older version of Gather where some songs didn t make the cut for the newest edition                 Other options Clearcards
Congrats on starting Add my vote to requesting annotations and highlighting capabilities That is a critical piece to make it usable in the choir loft The next step is to allow importing of other music into the service list using a song from outside the hymnal and to export a PDF to other apps like ForScore where I already have a library built Thanks                 Great start Lutheran in GA
This needs the ability to make annotations and export the digital music files as PDFs to open in second party apps As a professional singer it is virtually useless to me without the ability to make marks on it         Has potential but An American Not in Paris
Jefforganist Thank you for your feedback Your first concern was the table of contents and while you are right that we do not have the table of contents listed we do have exhaustive indexes at the back of the hymnals For Gather 3 they start at 1215 in the pew edition The indexes included are topical liturgical composer author sources metrical tune service music foreign languages and first lines and common titles If you type the word index in the search field it will display a complete list of the available indexes We appreciate this comment and will adjust our advertising to include the fact that the indexes are available Regarding usefulness to congregations we feel that this hymnal app has the same value as the physical hymnal and offers other great options like zooming in for those who have difficulty reading the words and also the back lighting that brightens the screen for you We also feel this app is very useful to choir members in many ways There is less to carry you can enter your service list and then page from hymn to hymn in service order and just imagine using this hymnal app in a darkened church during the Easter Vigil Regarding usefulness to the choir director as is mentioned in the advertising copy we will be offering both the keyboard and the guitar accompaniment editions very soon and we are working on the turning of pages with the blue tooth pedal as you mentioned As with all apps we will be continually improving and adding features Keep watching and keep commenting Michael Crisci This app is intended to work just like a book reader app the Kindle app for example While the app is free the books certainly are not You must pay to purchase the books you download Would you make the same comment for the Kindle or Nook apps                     Rebuttal Suzanne@GIA
Could be good but here s the rub all it is is a vehicle for you to BUY on of their hymnals You need to spend 14 99 or 25 99 to download the hymnal to your iPad     Worthless MChris
I thought about pitching this idea to one of GIA s competitors 2 years ago URGH But I m glad to see someone doing it They don t quite have it right yet It would be nice to see a table of contents I know you can search by name or hymn number but for those of us who use other publishers hymnals and are just exploring GIA a table of contents would be great Not having a table of contents implies that the user already knows what s in there and even seasoned GIA people don t know all the hymns in the hymnal The other thing is that an iPad app is not very useful to a congregation It s slightly more useful to choir members The person who stands to gain the most of this app is the music director organist You only offer the pew and choir editions when the most useful edition is the organ accompaniment On that same point some organists these days are playing music off the iPad and abandoning accompaniment tomes In order to achieve this they set up a bluetooth pedal to manage page turns On the GIA app the pedal hit would take the user to the next hymn instead of the next page It s a good start but GIA has lots of work to do to make this practical             A good start but Jeffery Abbott
A great app This is especially great for Choir Members who don t want to carry books or those with vision challenges Looking forward to the other hymnals and products that follow                     It s great DAYGS

The more you use it the more versatility you will find The app works beautifully with iPad and Dropbox importing pdf music files easily You can download the choir hymnal published by Gia Publications You can set up Sunday service lists so everything you sing is right at hand Notes can be added to the music in your choice of color where you choose to place it and typewritten or hand written You can even erase old notes by choosing white and running your finger over the words Im told that gather comp v2 choir will be released very soon for this app Its not only versatile its fun The gather books can be bought from inside the app Improvements to the app are ongoing              Amazing app

Thank you for adding the 2nd choir edition to the library which includes the 3rd edition of Gather Our choir uses mostly the 2nd edition and there are some significant changes between the two Not the least page numbers Just in time for the Passion and Easter I love carrying my light iPad instead of the Hymnal                 Happy in Maryland

This was the 1st app I purchased after buying my iPad and helped me justify the need for this device for work purposes As a church musician I have found this invaluable I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that every now and then it will just quit on me This fact might make me hesitant to purchase the keyboard edition when it is available because while singing I can quickly open it again while in the middle of a hymn but at the piano I wont have that luxury              A great app
