Gist - News Summaries

I like this app getting summaries from news storieshowever summarizing a lot of the news articles takes longer than I would like With future updates maybe it can get faster but this is still a very good app one of my favorites Good job           Pretty good app

Does what it does well present intelligently summarized articles and gets the UI out of your way Other news apps have nice eye candy but this looks fine and does what it says it does It has replaced my CNN app which has sadly gone way downhill                 Love it simple concept great execution

Just hilariously bad article summaries I came in thinking how can anyone possibly do a good job algorithmically summarizing news stories Answer right now they cannot Hoping for an improvement        Pretty app but

It would be better if the five excerpts were formatted better The bulleted list looks lazy and sloppy I also feel like there really needs to be a simplified article view when you tap to read Like readability or Safari readers rather than the full web page A good start but needs improvement           Nice idea

Use this app everyday to get an overview of the daily news so much better than just headlines Love the easy link to read the full article Pocket integration and text to speech feature Simple to use no huge learning curve just to read the news                 My Go To App

I like the way that it provides for easy to read summarizations based in pre determined information feeds Id be curious to see if there are additional sharing features it states sharing via Twitter email and more Im not quite certain what the more refers to would be great to be able to share to something like Buffer              Decent Summarizations

Tried them all I think This is the best Cant say enough positive things Design is amazing Great work                 Wow finally a great news reader

1 Summaries never load Considering that this is the point of the app its a pretty big problem 2 I use instapaper not pocket and theres no way to hide pocket in the UI Furthermore it insists on saving things to the safari reading list making me wonder why I even signed in to instapaper     Its gone dumb

I saw this interesting little app yesterday and tried it today and I was quite surprised by the results A really fantastic addition to the AppStore                 This app is really on to something

The majority of articles even in the curated categories list say never load     Most articles dont load

I find this app becoming more useful day by day It has an amazing design and contains tons of useful summarized information                 Amazing

Gist is an app excellent for getting bullet points out of articles that are mostly fact based ie dates that an event took place the age of any criminals involved the amount a startup was purchased for etc It could use some work in order to summarize some deeper more complicated articles but it is definitely worth using for current events and to stay updated Has great potential for sure              Room For Improvement But Lots Of Potential

The app is beautifully designed and is great for my daily news reading Not only does it summarize any article or text but you have the option to have it read the summary to you Its almost like my own personal news podcast And now with Pocket support its a must have for readers                 A great and unique app

This is an extremely mediocre app Cant believe I paid for it Why Yes the design is clean but simple things like swipe right to go back or to get to settings arent available Once you click into an article it actually takes a while 35 secs for the whole summary to load Not many sources of news are used so you end up with a very limited set of news pieces in each category and the pieces arent prioritized in a helpful way        Not worth 1 better free news apps exist

this is a really nice app However it would be nice if the summaries were completed before clicking on the article After clicking the article you have to wait several seconds until the article is summarized The lag time makes this apps usability limited it would be nice if all the summaries for the articles were already cached The summaries are pretty accurate but can definitely be improved           Nice app Takes too long to summarize

Most of the time Gist can summarize articles But it does it largely by truncating them While its an okay approach it doesnt work for all articles The app needs more intelligence behind it to offer meaningful summaries Heres hoping the developers behind Gist keep working at it to perfect a technology that can truly be useful           Great concept that needs work

Doesnt seem to work after update I hope they are working on a fix soon Otherwise kind of cool app        Broken

I have enjoyed Gist more than CNN for my daily or hourly updates They make concise articles on varying topics with no bias                 Frequent checker

I will concede perhaps Im missing the point of this app I will also say that I very picky when it comes to both sourcing my news and choosing apps to help me sort through news That said Gist doesnt seem to offer any value for me Its summaries are inadequate the app itself is slow presumably because it has to do the summarizing locally I own an iPhone 5 There are no controls to manage news Ive no interest in Sorry to be critical but I just dont find this app useful On the positive side its well built and clearly folks who built it know what theyre doing Perhaps this is a milestone version that will yet meet its true potential Until then adios     Not very useful

I read tons and tons of articles using Pocket so I was open to any app that would allow me to get that done faster Unfortunately what Ive found is that even when Im logged into my Pocket account on the app my articles wont show up And when they do its an incomplete list as in I scroll down and its completely blank When I do manage to get it to work though its amazing although I agree with other reviewers that it takes quite a long time to summarize Hopefully the bugs will be fixed soon and I can actually use this app more frequently        Terrible integration with Pocket
