Garmin UK & Ireland

This app is really amazing The only reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is because I spent the first day totally frustrated with it because while it says no Internet connection is needed it DOES NOT mention that you must leave OFF airplane mode If you put it on airplane mode it just constantly says acquiring satellites and just wont work This I found is a huge oversight and needs an update to correct It should at least have a warning to say the airplane mode must be turned off I wanted it on airplane mode to prevent charges but since Verizon CDMA doesnt work in Ireland I ended up not having to worry The menu for avoidances is completely confusing and should be clarified If you turn on ferries are you avoiding them or making them an option It seems like it could go either way Overall the app is great There are an awful lot of streets that the app says to turn but its just a sharp curve but other than that I was very pleased This app was half the cost of renting a GPS and 40 cheaper than buy a chip for my old GPS              Great

Ive used Garmin on my smartphone for a fee years now as I travel extensively for work When I needed to spend a few weeks in the UK this summer I was glad to find a new release 25july ready It was valuable in keeping me informed of upcoming roundabout exits and allowed me to focus on driving on the wrongleft side of the road On a couple of occasions it was late in telling me to exit a roundabout which sent me of the planned track but recalculated the route and got me to my destination This delay in voice guidance is the reason it did not get 5 stars Make sure you have a power source as it will drain the battery quickly as advertised              Almost as expected

Used this for 2 weeks in the upper Highlands of Scotland Worked great didnt crash Doesnt require an internet connection Worth the                 Good GPS

Having been a Garmin fan all my GPS life and having owned at least 15 Garmin devices over the past 12 years I was very disappointed in this app I was in the UK on business for 5 days and never got this app to work Luckily I had bought Navigon Europe which is also owned by Garmin and this worked flawlessly The app freezes or doesnt get satellites it needs work Garmin     Not that good

This app requires a data connection to activate maps each and every time it runs Since most iPhone users dont have UK or Ireland compatible phones or data plans why on earth is this even sold in the US store There is NO WAY to use it offline     WARNING Requires data connection

Directions are excellent as are the maps but the latest version does not save locations so you can quickly retrieve directions to previously entered spots This feature used to work so the latest update is disappointing           Good but latest update lacking
