Cannot calculate route on every tryplease fix     After iOS 8 update not working

Could use some updating on the GUI Long over due        Not optimized for iPhone 6

Always preferred garmin but with the latest update I lost points of interest Im now using Google maps Really sad about this        Lost points of interest

Recently installed latest version of app on the wifes brand new iPhone 6 Plus Spent over an hour reinputting the favorites and every time we try to get routing for any location we get an error Cannot Calculate Route Why didnt we restore this from her previous iPhone We did Complete with favorites And that didnt work so I uninstalled it and all of the favorites that my wife has saved for the past two years Favorites that she needs to do her job This is ridicuous Garmin makes great hardware but theyve never made great software Do not spend money on this or any of their products for any reason Im done with this company and Ive been a loyal user for more than 20 years This is the last straw     Worst Navigation App Available

Since the most recent update every attempt to use the app results in error cannot calculate route Tried deleting and reinstalling but this did not remedy the disfunction     Disappointed

Garmin cant keep up The iOS update killed all saved information and simply drove this app to crash all the time Seems they put out a patch to help fix it but Spoken Directions no longer work It spits out just pieces of the directions before fading away I used to be able to use spoken directions through either the phone or the car audio system now nothing Looks like Ill have to shift to the competition Too bad I was a Garmin marine navigation system user before maybe Ill shift that system over too     USED TO Love it IOS Update Killed It

Delete app reinstall reload maps and free stuff Worked perfect 012815                 No streets cant route

Just got the new iPhone 6 and reloaded all my map bundles All of my saved information migrated over fine but now it wont calculate any trips The map is only showing some of the major roads but none of the secondary ones Ive been using this app for quite a while and have absolutely loved it until now I guess Ill just be using the Google map application until this one gets fixed Hope its soon     Used to be the best

I did what one of the other posters said to do Delete the app and reload Did that and it works great This is the best gps app I have found                 All is good with 6 plus

It is very good navigator I need only one more function It is FromTo function The Trip Planner is not convinient to use I can select only destination on the spot of the map with Go icon Sometimes I want to know a rout from one special position not current position to other position              One more function

First let me note that I own the Navigon Tomtom coPilot and motionX GPS apps yes Ive spent a fortune and I consider Garmin to be the best GPS app Ive found considering both usability and accuracy It operates nearly the same as the Garmin GPS I have in my car and with the traffic add on usually gives me the best routing option Is it perfect no but none of the others I have found are any better and some in particular the free options such as Google maps are much worse when it comes to accurate directions YMMV              Best of the lot

Have had this app since it first came out and swore by it Is goofy in iOS 8 Voice directions cut off Some times when you call it up it comes up and then cuts back to the app icon           Garmin n America

It now works On iPhone 5 and 6 You do need to delete app and reinstall Ill the maps And you also have to update your iOS first for it to work              It works

Found a possible fix Finally figured out how to get this working after much frustration I think someone else may have posted they got it working but gave no detailed instructions I have it working on a 1st gen iPad mini iPhone 3gs iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 I take no liability for this fix the app not working or any related issues DO AT YOUR OWN RISK 1 Start fresh Delete the Garmin NA app from your phonedevice 2 Install the Garmin NA app from the App Store 3 Open app 4 Follow on screen menus to the dialog that allows you to download map sets 5 There are two items youll need to download First there is a set of core files that must be downloaded Second there is the map data set you purchased in this case the North America map set Tap on the download button to download each of these Find a place with fast internet or be patient 6 Wait for the downloads to complete and do not close the app If you are prompted by the first core files download to restart the app press ok and continue waiting for the North America maps to finish downloading 7 IMPORTANT STEP AS SOON AS the North America map set is finished downloading it will prompt you to perform an app restart DO NOT RESTART THE APP At this point press ok Then Hold the power button on your phone until the shutdown slider appears 8 Wait for the phone to shutdown 9 Hold the power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen Wait for the phone to reboot 10 Open the Garmin North America app and youll notice that the app can now access the map data unlike before and can calculate a route Voila Dear Garmin I feel like Ive definitely cut you some slack here by giving a 4 I hold Garmin in high regard in terms of navigation and would trust my life on it Overall its a great app a 4 but if its unreliable its worth a 5 I purchased this app so that in a pinch without cell service I wouldnt be stranded If it doesnt work when I expect it to work Im stranded For the sake of the company please consider a making a prominent post to your website to explain a temporary fix or b release an update that remediates the issue altogether Garmin you are one of the biggest names in navigation and if I ever own a plane I will buy Garmin for navigation For integritys sake fix the app              Found possible Fix Great App Desperately Needs Update

New bug today I upgraded to iPhone 6 yesterday and now i get an error stating cant calculate route I reset the phone and reinstalled with no luck Please dont make me use apple maps to complete my trip and get home I think the local maps are toast I only see major roads Fixed it by deleting the app and maps again via general Usage Loaded the basic files and rebooted Then loaded maps              Voice

This used to be my goto nav app Now its just an expensive waste of space Please update     Please update

I cant believe how this app for my iPhone has gone from great to a worthless piece of If you dont already have it dont waste your money Garmin better get it together soon It doesnt matter how you try to pick a destination it cant calculate the route or recognize the address     On the go

I downloaded several offline map navigation apps including Navigon Scout and Copilot GPS This Garmin app was my favorite of the bunch so I bought all the options It has a few things that could use improvement hence 4 stars instead of 5 but overall it is the best offline Nav app out there I love that I can do multipoint routing and that Im able the manually reorder waypoints as I add them to my current route However they need to add a Current Route button to the interface so I can get to the route planning screen and reorder points at anytime in case I change my mind on the order of destinations Right now my workaround is to just add a new destination again to get the route planning screen to come up again and then immediately delete the destination I just added Then I can reorder the points in my route and tap Save again Also I like the idea of the slide out settings bar on the left of the map screen Garmin should add a quick link to the avoidances in the slide out settings bar on the left of the map screen so I can quickly turn onoff highway avoidances Or at least put the Avoid Highways button in that slideout settings bar And heres my biggest gripe PLEASE PUT A VOLUME MIXER SO I CAN TURN DOWN THE VOICE VOLUME relative to my podcasts The Garmin voice is set really loud The issue is that I listen to music and podcasts while navigating and some of them were recorded at a low volume The volume control of the Garmin app is tied directly to the master volume so if I turn it up to hear my music my eardrums and speakers get blown out from the Garmin voice Put a mixer in the app Waze has one so I know its possible The integrated Google search is awesome but I think that instead of having to select the Google button in Where To they should make the apps primary search bar use Google if Internet service is available and only then fall back on the internal data Ive had a couple addresses that Garmin got wrong but Google got right And the internal search should not be limited to Near Current Location That has messed up a few of my searches It needs to jest search everywhere but just present me with the closest ones first in small batches while it keeps searching in the background in case I hit Next And my final gripe The app ONLY uses GPS data to locate itself Other online Nav apps use wifi and cell triangulation to assist in displaying my current location accurately In urban situations with tall buildings I often have to turn to Google Maps for a more accurate location In Boston with its many underground and overlapping roads this has caused me issues Garmin had me on the underground road bending right while I was actually bending left on the surface road The tall buildings were interfering with GPS reception I switched over to Google Maps and it knew my correct location I credit the cell triangulation for that I know that Garmin is an offline program but if online info is available at that moment Garmin really should make use of it I do love the Glympse feature Very cool and handy for sharing my location and ETA with people without having to try to explain where I am over the phone A feature request Please make the ability to export my trip log perhaps as a gpx file I have needed to reference this data in the past On my old Garmin standalone GPS I was able to extract the currentgpx file and bring it into Google Earth Very cool Please add iTunes file sharing would be fine              My Offline Nav App of Choice a few improvements needed

Update two more weeks and no fix Garmin claims they put out an update on oct 1 but they didnt It has now been 2 weeks and still no fix When you call garmin they say they are working on it Completely irresponsible company Epic fail Worked great until iOS8 now the sound cuts out I used this app on my motorcycle so if I cant hear it it is useless I wouldnt buy it until they fix it and since garmin isnt even acknowledging that there is a problem it is not likely they will     Sound does not work in IOS8

Mine Just stopped showing local roads Tried reinstalling with no success and lost all my favorites along the way Also iCloud backup of favorite is not actually working because ind first has to be running Yosimite on all other machinesand two of my critical software packages dont yet run on that OS Lastly Garmin provides no support or twoway communications for apps I wish the companys consumer division was as conscientious as its air pilot subsidiary Im a flyer too     Wont link to updated mapsno support

This app was working when I first got it but for the last couple months and last 23 updates to iOS and the app its constantly locks up on my iphone 5s On a 1hr drive it might freeze up 510 times requiring having to kill the app and restart it Also if you need to make any changes while moving it never works when you tell it to turn off the safe mode so a passenger cant use it You either have to give up and use a free map app or pull over and stop to get back into the app     Constantly locks up almost useless

Garmin gps app for iOS is seriously outdated and gives weird directions it needs to be fixed Its ironic that Garmin has lost their way     Not good

Others have noted the IOS 8 voice cutoff issue so I wont belabor that here I wanted to point out some nuisance difficulties in moving my Garmin app from my former smartphone iPhone 4S to my new iPhone 6 I went through the recommended backup process in iTunes and then restored my apps to my new phone The Garmin app downloaded and started when selected However it could not initiate any navigation After consulting with Garmin tech support I had to delete the app off of my phone redownload it and then add all of the purchased elements back in 1st the required files then the maps then the purchased extras in that order with an app stop and restart between each I lost all of my Favorite locations but the app appears to be working now except for the voice cutout problem If you are thinking of doing a phone upgrade sometime soon I would strongly suggest that you hold off on buying this app until you have your new phone set up           Issues updating to iPhone 6

This is generally a good app with a key feature being you have your map data on the phone so driving somewhere with no cell coverage doesnt affect you The map keeps working unlike a program that downloads map data on the fly Nonetheless theyre slow to roll out updates As noted by others were weeks into iOS 8 and without an update from Garmin voice directions no longer function Hopefully theyll catch up soon           Slow to update

Worked great until last update Now REQUIRED maps do not finish its download Get almost all the way then hangs Left all nite and still did not finish Tried multiple devices I have and multiple wifi spots not just my own including 3G Same response across ALL devices Skip this product as you can not use it without the maps Support no good as it takes you to a pre canned is it turned on Make sure its plugged in page Or visit the forums page for help type of crap Can not reach any real help     Maps do not download anymore

I give this 2 stars only because this WAS my favorite navigation app Now this is nearly a worthless No maps load and navigation does not work You might want to fix that        Maps would be nice

Ive owned several Garmin GPS units in years past They worked great so I thought this app would as well NOT The outlandish cost of the app itself plus the superexpensive inapp purchases puts this busted apps price tag around 14000 Thats insane for an app thats got way too many issues to list here Oh and if you pay for the crappy in app purchases the total download size of this app is 41GB Thats about 13 of the available storage space of a 16GB iPhone DONT BUY     DONT BUY

I was very happy with the app until the recent IOS update to iOS 8 now the App dont show any street only shows my current position           Pretty good until IOS 8

Was good until iOS 8 However even before that the maps need to be updated desperately They are way out of date Took a crosscountry trip in July and had to use my dash mounted Garman because the app was so off with older maps UPDATE The latest update has problems with safe mode It is not turned on yet tells me I cannot use it while driving I was a passenger It asks if I want to turn safe mode off so I select yes The app then locks up and does not allow any input Close the app and restart same result It is not useless if you want to add a route etc        What is going on Garmin

Map needs updating slow and jittery sometimes in trip planner you cannot set waypoints looking at the map dont waste your money on this app I was told on the phone that it was free lifetime map updates available Im yet to see one new map update     MAP needs updating

Love Garmin However it seems to take way to long to route at the beginning of the route Can easily get confused until app catches up        Slow to navigate at beginning

It has been updated for iOS 8 and it is all good now Excellent and worth every penny on the download The application is a bit expensive but its worth all the money since I no longer need to carry around my standalone unit Very quick and responsive Nice adds for iOS 8 Way to go                 Its all Good Now

I just bought this app on Friday November 28th 2014 but used it driving around over the weekend and it so far has worked flawlessly on my iPhone 6 The interface is just like my Nuvi 265 So far I love this app And now one less electronic device I have to carry around in my car Update 12714 The app works great and still 5 stars just wish they would put a detour option on the map so you dont have to scroll back and also give an option for the voice navigation audio default from the phone itself not Bluetooth I dont like navigation through Bluetooth as there is a delay as the Bluetooth connects and interrupts my music too often when there are lots of turns so I have to manually turn on phone audio every time I connectjust little conveniences would make this app perfect and these are very minor complaints                 So far works great

Garmin of more current gps one provides a search option for my route option This option is very helpful for finding rest areas along the route Please provide this option for us           Need a search option for rest area along my route

From the worlds leading GPS manufacturer I expected more since I purchased this app over a year ago Little bugs I can deal with but not updating this app to import GPX RoutesTracksWaypoints has moved this app to the bottom of my Nav Apps list on my iPhone 6 There are better free offline Nav apps available today        I expected more

I had the same issue others are reporting where you just have the base map after the upgrade despite downloading 2 Gigs of detailed maps I deleted the app and reinstalled and then redownloaded the maps and all is well again If you use iCloud to sync your favorites they should still be there Garmin needs to fix this but until then there is a workaround                 Fix for missing maps

Wanted a real gps function instead of relying on Apple or Google maps This shows great in iphone6 One suggestion would be to allow user which POI to show in map view up Also ability to create custom POI Update One other suggestion would be to have the ability to share maps amongs users Not like Glympse but as in one person can create an itinerary on their GarminiPhone and send it to another Garmen iPhone user My wife and I both have this app but she does most of the trip planning There is no way to easily share that information and we do not share an iCloud account because of Apple Pay Thank you              So far so good

I purchased this app but went back to my free app That actually works Sent a message to support and havent heard back     Not worth the money until they fix IOS8 audio bug

I use this navigation app exclusively until the upgrade to I OS 8 No it doesnt want to calculate the route It will find a destination and seems to know where I am But what good is it if you cant Calculator route this takes it from five stars to one stars for me     It was great until IOS 8

Loved the app but it no longer works on my iPhone Works fine on my iPad but get cannot calculate route on my phone No points of interests on the phone either All maps updated both devices running iOS 812 both have location services turned on Until its fixed its useless     No longer works on iPhone

I also started getting the cant calculate route message I deleted the application reinstalled and restarted my iPhone 6 with IOS 812 Things look fine now I lost my favorites Local search must do a better job too I still use Waze as my main navigation tool           Reinstalled Still mediocre

Garmin apparently didnt hear that a new iPhone came out App no longer works cant route you and no point of interest no exit services etc Its now a 50 map that shows where you are     Lack of iPhone 6 support

I am on a 2 month long cross country vacation I bought this app to guide me but the Voice is cut off Wth I spent good on this app and I am asking for an update quick The maps appear to be even worse than the apple maps Come on Garmin get with the program I love the interface I even purchased all the in app purchases 3D ect Hoping that would correct the problem but after reading all the other reviews it appears as if we are all screwed until an update comes Fix this now please I wouldnt recommend this to anyone until an update for ios8     Need update BAD
