UPDATE It s been over a year so I gave it another try on my iPad Looks like they re getting closer to being useful but there was no way to favorite a word Perhaps it was hidden under the three dots at the right HOWEVER every time I tapped on the three dots IT CRASHED AND CLOSED So I had to pull out an old iPhone that I never use download an older version of the app to that and suddenly the three dots worked and I was able to favorite a word So since I don t want to use the older iPhone and since this app crashes on my iPad I m going to delete it again on my iPad and hope they keep working on it And I hope they ll eventually make it possible to allow me to save favorite pronunciations on my device It they keep working on this and make it useful I ll give it five stars But for now down to one star PREVIOUS REVIEW Perhaps my expectations were too high I can t really find any reason to use this The website is easier and better I ll probably end up deleting this unless they provide more functionality like letting me save my favorite pronunciations on my device so that I can re listen over and over without logging in Now THAT would be helpful as I try to learn a new language     why would I use this Blue Pine

As an audiobook book narrator I have used Forvo as a great resource for years There is only one drawback in my mind to this app It is portrait alignment only For some reason the designers haven t added a landscape option if you turn your iPad to the side                 Great resource landscape please obi-vaughan

Being able to find actual people pronouncing words instead of computer generated voices is wonderful for learning correct pronunciation I am studying the Russian language and there are subtleties that computer just don t get yet This app is still buggy and in an hour of use crashed a few times But that is ok because it is easy to just start it up again and continue searching for pronunciations This app deserves high marks in spite of its flaws Bravo                 Extremely valuable BlaStar310

I love Forvo and have been recommending the site for years As I get closer to graduation and move more into my career networking opportunities are everywhere and often they require a bit more finesse than my college campus This handy little app means I can double or even triple check that I m pronouncing the name of the wine correctly the business jargon and sometimes even a difficult last name It s much easier than pulling up the mobile browser especially for the tricky little words that you find yourself re listening to more than once                     Very helpful on the go TheLizzyIzzi

The app isn t too bad but for the price you d expect to function at least as well as the site Here s what s broken Sometimes tapping on a word once you ve looked it up to see other pronunciations of it results in an error message option not available for this phrase This message seems to randomly come up for some words and phrases Here s some of what s missing Specific locations of speakers are not shown anywhere in the app from what I can tell This means that I can t see which dialect a word is being pronounced in The website has this functionality and I expect it here too especially for a paid app Otherwise it seems fine but 3 for a worse experience than their website is a dead end             Good but not better than the site DannySwish

Unless you re a pro with phonetic alphabets this app is essential Pronunciation is crowdsourced from native speakers and curated by reviews of other native speakers Europe is filled with avid learners of other languages so poor pronunciations don t last out the day The app also identifies contributors by where they grew up so depending on the language if you re interested in regional differences you can often focus on contributors from whatever region you d like Great app intuitive to use and fairly priced                     Indispensable Laquedem
