for i: Code Editor for the iPad

whe you try to use web to upload files or create a folder it crahses everytime both web and the app on the iPad Not a good start There is no way to get a hold of developer on their web site no email no tech support This is not good customer service Until this is fixed I give this app only two stars Also need to add Oracle PLSql language        Crashes

No update since 4 month I invested 10 dollars to encourage the development At the moment its just an editor with syntax highlighting Deleted it     Looks like the project is abandoned

The app still has many problems with the interface it is crude at best Ive been waiting for an update but this seems to be one of the many apps abandoned by the developer before there finished        Still waiting

Great little code editor for iPad Good language support attractive highlighting nice and speedy to use I dig it              Great Editor

A waste of ten bucks Cursor is wacky and the cut and paste does not work at all It is impossible to copy It is a black hole     Terrible app

In this last release the devs have really done a good job and the app is now sturdy It is now to the point where it is really useable for more serious type work              Getting better

This one needs a little more time in QA I went to this app looking as an alternative to iCode Repositioning the text insertion point cursor is an essential activity and should be isolated before anything else Making mistakes is torture with this app There some nice features that are a step of using a word processor but the core navigation should not a problem in an app like this        Needs some work

This application is no ready for prime time     My mistake I should have believed the reviews

Pro The additional line on top of keyboard is good File transfer is ok Support many formats Big Con If your file is very large it takes seconds to response each single key you typeyou simply cant do the work This is really disappointing        OK but cant handle large file

This app has potential but it lacks in a few important ways It needs some serious optimization for large files few hundred lines There also needs to be a better way to get files into and out of the app Enable the Open in dialogue box into fori from other apps goodreader dropbox readdle email and out of fori into these apps I hope this continues to be developed as it has a lot of potential and currently zero competition           Has potential still work to do

Im a C developer This product looks like it has promise However it is still very rough It crashed within a minute of first use while creating a simple hello world file from scratch It really needs FTP access allowing access to servers If I need to access a computer to push files to the iPad I might as well use the computer to edit the file If your product was stable and could do sharing with Good Reader one could at least get files to and from a host computer remotely from the iPad Tools like this have to be rock solid at a basic level first Otherwise they are useless to professional developers At this point buying this app was a waste of 1000 and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone in its current state Please get your act together Peter for I Support responded to the above stating Update 102 fixes all the crashes we currently know about we get crash reports from Apple which collects them through iTunes Weve submitted this update to Apples approval team last week and we expect it to be approved within the next few days Our current top priority is adding more options for file syncing starting with FTP servers and Dropbox accounts It should be available in the coming weeks This is a favorable response from the company which leads me to believe they will eventually hopefully soon resolve these issues and add features that will make this product the only viable code editor on iPad for software professionals Until then I suggest you hold on to your 1000     Not ready for serious developers

There does not appear to be a way to change tab indent hardcoded to two characters This renders the app unusable for files where youve painstakingly aligned columns of text using a more rational 4character tab On other files it is a heavyhanded developerimposed style choice There are two different settings menus Confusing Font settings are in the documents screen under color themes of all things The app inserts blank lines in some opened documents but not others and you occasionally need to accept it on faith that the cursor is on one of those blank lines because it does not always show The feedback option in the settings dialog crashes the app The web server for importingexporting is a very nice feature but multiselect for transferring files is desperately needed The additional keys on the keyboard addition are very handy and include a tab key A musthave for code editing        needs work

What a pleasant find Im a software engineer and just got an ipad Just for grins I typed in various words related to programming to see what popped up Didnt really expect anything but was surprised to find this app After reading the reviews I purchased it Ive been using it for a few weeks now and I really like the concept and where this app is heading Love the keyboard and how theyve tailored it to put the keys most often used when coding on the top level Simply great Look I dont expect the ipad to act like a fullfledged computer and compile and run code but I love coding and really wanted a syntaxhighlighting editor to flesh out ideas while mobile This fits the bill perfectly and anything the developers add beyond that will make an already great app better The thought of git integration just makes me giddy This app makes me happy to be an ipad owner                 Unexpected find

Despite a few earlyrelease bugs Id predict that this app will have a great future Being able to use a programmers editor with syntaxcoloring on the iPad is very useful for a lot of us This app has the potential to become the premier solution for coders onthego              fills a hole in the app ecosystem

I love it when i need to jot out some code on the couch or hate to have to pull out a laptop or logon the schools computers its great I was really disappointed with some of the keyboard features they are all going to be soon changed as per their change log I would love this even more if they had java c c and c code completion but oh well i can dream              Great for a CS Student

Not a useful source edit tool Strange file utility No iDisk support If free still not worth price I want my money back     Don buy this app

You need to be able to compile and run while still in the app Otherwise a good app           Needs More Features

I was the first to lambast this app but the new updates appear to have solved most of the issues I honestly have not had time to run it through all its paces but it has not crashed yet Great response time from the development team              New Update Looks Good

I love iPhone and iPad apps As much as I love them Ive never written an app review until I found this one Im using it for php editing It has correct syntax highlighting and a convenient keyboard setup to give me quick access to characters which we devs use often It does a good job of keeping the ui uncluttered giving me lots of page area to see a large portion of the code at once I liked how I could edit the syntax highlighting template and bump up the font size a bit Great app devs Please keep it up I know your asking for feature suggestions Thats great please also keep it as clean and as uncluttered as it is now                 Excellent app could not believe I found something this great

I purchased this app to encourage the developer to continue development it appears they will not The app is ok for small files but horrible for large files or repositories It is unstable and crashes a lot Key features are missing that make it cumbersome to use At most this is good for code review while traveling but dont count on being able to do useful work with it     Abandoned

This is great just what I wanted except for the app tester But sience Im new to programming I dont know that much about it so Id enjoy a place to test the app Im making So if there is one I hope the company would make it more visable or add one if there isnt                 Where is the app tester

The pinch to zoom works a little but not well at all I cant copy all text or any text other than one word I think the touch screen controls in general do not work on the Ipad1 I cant rename the file either This is a really poor app and it cost quite a lot When are you going to fix these issues I just upgraded my iPad to IOS43 I just installed this software I cant get the pinch to zoom to work I first tried rebooting my iPad and for awhile it started working Then it just stopped working again I tried rebooting the iPad but no luck this time I paid 10 which is expensive for an iPad app I hope this is fixed soon     Does not work

When working with a file containing 1500 lines of code typing is way too sluggish A fresh restart of the iPad did not help This app is way too expensive considering problems like that Hopefully this will be fixed in an update Otherwise a good app        Unbearable when editing longer files

Great app for reading and going over a program One feature it really needs is opening each program file in a tab and able to switch between files faster instead of going through the list of programs              Great to read programs but needs more features

Spent 999 on this app and it is worthless Does not work as a basic text editor much less a code editor Cursor is erratic zoom cannot be controlled Textastic a much better code editor for a fraction of the price     Useless app

I Love this app Its pretty cool and easy how I can get the files on any computer in my network instantly which makes it a super great project These guys know what they are doing D now I just have to wait for a equivalent to this for IB Mockups I would get this any day over InCode or others                 Great stuff

Issues The interface is buggy and slow when working on anything with more than 100 lines of code ie typing is very laggy Cut copy paste does not work well The file manager is glitchy during screen rotation What I like The color themes work fairly well although I can not seem to completely customize them I like the concept of editing code on the go If performance can be improved then this could be very useful to me on a daily basis Feature requests The icon is really bad It needs to look more polished The overall performance needs to be improved for larger blocks of code Thats all for now If you can make some improvements I will come back and update my rating Keep at it           Needs work but could become very useful

The app does what it says The highlighting is decent and transferring files was a breeze However the app crashes whenever a medium sized file is opened I attempted to open a file that was about 20000 lines so understandably that failed However when opening a js file that was about 1000 lines also crashed     Needs work

I knew it I knew it I knew it I knew it I knew it I KNEW IT Deep down I just KNEW this app was going to turn out to be a piece of crud The apps icon ALONE should have given it away But no like a fool I read a few reviews and coupled with the description I figured it must have some merit WAS I WRONG I dont even know what this app is called Yes for i I get it but it doesnt even turn up in my search for it That should have been another dead giveaway on the poor quality Why was I searching for it So I could post a review and warn other people about this tremendously horrendous waste of money I feel like Ive been suckered again by the positive reviews from others probably family and friends of the developers ugh Ok so the last time I checked programming had a lot to do with editing text a task which this app is absolutely TERRIBLE at facilitating At the very least I figured editing text would be standard iPad text editing on par with the likes of Apple Mail or SimpleNote or whatever you know like editing text anywhere else on the iPad system Heck no First of all can you say SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW I took me FOREVER to even get the little paste popup menu to appear by tapping the screen I tapped and waited Then tried tapping again and waited Tapped again and this time I waited and waited and I KID YOU NOT waited and waited and waited W T F FINALLY the stupid little paste menu popped up which upon pressing stayed turned blue to notify me that it accepted my tapping it but then it decided to just sit there on the screen and stay blue Yep Blue There it is right there Still blue Ok I think I got it I fully understand that my tap was registered so its ok for you to now go ahead and paste my text for me Yes thats correct I would like you to paste the text NOW as in THIS VERY MOMENT Nope not quite yet Ok there we go text has now FINALLY been pasted Again I KID YOU NOT And try to select text anywhere else in the app Go on I dare you For example each line of text runs all the way up to the left edge of the display I mean RIGHT UP to it in fact pretty much IN to it making text selection at the beginning of a line a real PAIN Even basic typing you know data entry text editing that thing this app is ultimatey supposed to DO Well it is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW as H E Double Hockey Sticks It doesnt stop their either Not by a long shot You know that sort of oddball feeling that somethings just not quite right with this thing Yeah thats the one Well that oddball feeling permeates this entire app the whole experience As much as I wish I could further articulate it I dont know how Quality is one of those things you pick up out of the corner of your eye never head on And while I wasnt expecting Applelike quality from this thing for 10 I at least thought it would be decent Jeeeeeeze You me he she wed all be better off writing programs in the Mail app than this bugger     Jeeeeze

I am a student in High School taking an AP Computer Science course and this works great to write up my programs on and to work at home or when Im traveling Probably one of my most useful apps                 Works great
