Editorial is a plain text editor for the iPad with powerful automation tools and a beautiful inline preview for writing Markdown. You can combine a large selection of simple text processing actions into your very own ...
Not full screen on iPhone X Dropbox sync doesn t work     No updates in 6 months Longtime CPod User
Holy cow this editor is amzing I am using it for taskpaper and it just works I can see it replacing a host of other tools I use I would love an OS X version My original 2 star review was about lack of iCloud support still annoyed but dropboxed instead Have to say the better tracking of files and deletions in Dropbox is worth the hassle                     Awesome Tool for taskpaper llamaswill
As far as I know this is the only app in the App Store that supports folding headers What s that you ask It means if you use a Symbol to start a line you can then tap the symbol to fold the section headed by that line It essentially turns the app into an outliner Super powerful And that s just one of many impressive features This is my go to Dropbox editor                     Folding Headers IveTriedEmAll
Just started using this app although I have owned it for awhile The interface needs work Would much prefer a preview raw button over the swipe option I use the app in conjunction with my Mac Pro If I airdrop a txt file I can open it in Editorial If I airdrop a md file my iPad takes me to the app store This is irritating and requires me to rename files back and forth between txt and md             Needs some work Liktoprgm
Great app with all the core capabilities and functionality I need except the ability to link to Box and iCloud Adding these features would make this a 5 star app             Please add Box support amerritt81
Couldn t get my work done nearly as easily without editorial Would pay 10 times as much for this app I couldn t script my way out of a paper bag yet I bought pythonista only to support the dev                     My daily driver james, james bond
There s a lot to like and the potential for automation using Python is something I want to explore Being able to open documents on a Mac without exporting is important to my workflow and so deeper integration with iCloud Drive as primary storage would be very nice and seems like such an obvious feature in the Apple universe I don t use Dropbox                 A lot to like but what about iCloud Drive msddsm
I have read the tutorials Guess I still don t know how it works I ll be back and update later probably             So confused K J Lopez
Now that it HAS been updated for IOS 10 this is my favorite writing app I have several workflows that enhance how it works for me If you like customizing your writing environment with snippets text substitutions and workflows text manipulation scripts then this editor might be for you Since being updated it CAN be used in split screen mode                     Awesome writing app ScienceEdProf
Will not open documents from Dropbox Click spinner shows nothing happens         Won t open documents Sisawat
Spent over a hour with this buggy and largely unusable text editor Impossible to get back to file menu once doc is complete top row of keys appears and disappears slide finger to move cursor does not work unless top row is absent and no evident way to make that happen consistently You can begin new doc at first but then next to impossible to start another doc or return to menu Only thing that functions as it should is the share sheet Sure the cost is cheap but you get what you pay for and in this case you get next to nothing The positive reviewers for this app must either be shills or living in a fantasy world     Don t waste your time or money on this dog of an app zurich1900
I use this App daily for taking notes and writing code while I m out and about At home the files are easily accessible from Dropbox to use or edit Easy to learn UI Highly recommended                     Extremely versatile editing tool for the iPhone The Real MuonDude
good app can be great 1 dropbox support open app start typing Dropbox sync occurs and changes are garbled 2 good to know number of items in a list if you have an indented check list show the count in the little box used for drag and dropping lines 3 would be nice to be able to delete lines using the little line drag box on the right side perhaps holding it down without moving for a second can open up an actionsheet menu with options to delete the line or anything else useful When can these be expected to be implemented Still an amazing app more than happy to update my ratings                     good can be great Souppy!
There is really no replacement for Editorial You can do just about anything with it due to its high level of integration with Python Need a way to collect data or write in an organized fashion Create a template and use a bit of Python or built in prompts for user inputs Need to parse data into human readable form Python will do it and then get it into Markdown HTML or other format Then preview or export to another app or PDF It has Dropbox integration and it works well although I can t seem to Image save or Editor set file contents successfully to Dropbox Anyway I m building a journaling workflow for my wife and I m really close to deprecating DayOne Classic Wish I could use this at work                     Swiss Army knife Kubisuro
I love this app and use it every day for writing It would be 5 stars if I could sync Workflows and passcode lock the app                 Two missing features Lefthounded
I have been using this app for a while This editor does what other markdown editors do but you get features that other editors don t have such as the ability to create workflows with built in functions and custom scripts using Python The python editors is simply amazing Add to that the preview of your markdown by simply swiping left and customizing the looks using your own custom CSS Summarizing you can have a simple editor or have all the power over the final results that an application can give to the user                     Best Markdown editor period other tools Cdzero
This app is fantastic The majority of the things I write on my Mac are in Markdown or Taskpaper formatted text files I had a couple of different apps on my iPhone to handle these files having tried many different apps but Editorial replaces them and does it with a beautiful elegant interface and tons of nice advanced features if you want them                     Beautiful highly capable text app S_Power
It is a great app for taking notes however it is only possible to sync notes via Dropbox and there s no iCloud sync support                 Great app no iCloud sync CdV73
This is a great app in many ways but has been severely neglected recently Most text editor apps now support modern iOS 9 features like sharing sending 3D Touch etc and are updated more than once every half year Editorial has been extremely complacent and is verging on obsolescence Clearly the developer has lost interest Too bad it was once the best text editor the store         Neglectware logic_error
This application is amazing Ever since the developer added split screen my productivity has increased iOS text expansion is limited but the native text expansion in Editorial is perfect for automating email replies                     Powerful Text Editor RobRawks
I love this app My primary requirements for such an app are that it sync with Dropbox and offers dynamic text like time and date stamps It does both and very well Plus it has all kinds of flexibility You can use plain text or other formats And the layout is very clean and pleasant It s my go to text editor for making quick notes with time and date stamps                     Awesome Text Editor AvenuesGuy
This is a truly amazing editor As a text editor alone it s incredibly full featured and powerful and the automation tools make automating repetitive tasks a breeze It s one of a few must have apps for any serious iOS user                     Amazing and Powerful Editor Ari Porad
Best Editor in the AppStore Calling it a text editor is not even fair                     Simply the Best Thirsty_Dragon
Update midFeb 2015 Still no iPhone 6 Plus support Still no response from the developer This is a great App And it has been highly recommended However it still doesnt have iPhone 6 screen support midJanuary 2015 which limits its UX on the iPhone Love the Taskpaper support and everything else about it Emailed the developer to ask about 6 Plus support and have still not heard back This was not a cheap or free App and so I expect more timely updates     No 6 Plus Support
Ever notice how when something works or provides a user experience that is clean and efficient somewhere somehow a moron will manage to inject himself into the picture and ruin it What idiot added the preview tab to the editorial api I dont know but could you whip him please Just irksome just a perfect moronism     i moroni
Best Editor in the AppStore Calling it a text editor is not even fair                 Simply the Best
This was a great text editor but its been nearly a year since the developer updated it It has never been fixed to use the new larger screens of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus        Abandoned software Buyer beware
Full feature notes app                 Replaced Evernote as notes taking app
I use it to take notes at work Markdown is much faster than messing with standard formatting options                 Really great
The only thing that keeps this from being a 5star app is that the interface hasnt been updated for the iPhone 6 and 6 All the functionality that you could hope for in a text editor is here              Love this text editorbut
There is nothing like Editorial on any mobile platform Its a powerful text editor workflow execution and data capture tool in one application Updates are infrequent but huge This is one of the most solid and well designed apps I use                 Peerless
Edit the latest version still has very limited cloud support Id prefer to see support for document providers or bakedin support for more than Dropbox This app supports one and only one cloud storage option Dropbox a service which is increasingly redundant Google and Apple and Microsoft now offer similar functionality and he idea of layering Dropbox on top of the services I already use is annoying        Practically zero cloud support
Not optimized for iOS 8           Not optimized
Editorial takes the iPhone iPad to a completely new level Buy buy buy                 Simply amazing
Just get it Its worth the money                 Hot dam
If you regularly work with text do any kind of web design or run a blogwebpage this app is incredibly useful The ability to use Python scripts in your workflows is huge A very well thoughtout app and well worth the price I guess Id expect nothing less from the same developer that brought the first legitimate full featured Python code editor the iPhone                 Great App from an amazing developer
Customization and Workflows make this the most powerful Markdown editor Ive used for iOS This is one of the few apps that is a must have for me Update OMW the more I use this app the more amazed I am I can Tweetbot some text from right inside a document I have workflows to customize the HTML output for common classes that I use Amazing mobile time saver                 Best Markdown Editor for iOS
Update 62515 As excellent as before with new stuff added No added bugs detected The folding feature is super Original review The title says it all You can search all the text documents that are in the same folder as the document youre editing At once You dont have to be a geek to use custom workflows either Just add workflows from the public directory This is perfect for using with Scrivener at least until they put out an iOS version It integrates seamlessly with Scriveners external folder sync Sync your Scrivener files as plain text after changing italics and bold to Markdown syntax Use a md extension for your sync files Voila                 Global search Even better than before
This is great software but the author is really slow to update it Doesnt work well on iPhone 6 or 6 and is starting to show its age So its great but its poorly maintained           Best iOS Markdown Editor when updated
Needs an update for new iPhones Its been too long to be excusable           Too long
If not for A Universal App perfect and the best ever TaskPaper integration on iOS Markdown Multimarkdown Python native snippets TextExpander as well as full Dropbox support custom UI extensibility user friendly navigational gestures the new Folding text functionality the list goes on Then for The everevolving Editorial community driven workflows If theres something Editorial DOESNT do with text or provide an InterAppAbility you want you can probably find a workflow that suits your needs create it or get help doing so Lastly Active developer engagement Mr Zorn has one of the sharpest eyes for UI design detail and code stability Editorial is one of THE highwater marks for iOS development in all the above respects                 EDITORIAL Phenomenal
Editorial is the best text editor for nonprogrammers You might not notice that from the screenshots or the description but trust me it is In its most basic form its a simple and elegant tool for writing on the iPad It doesnt rely on gimmicks for a socalled distraction free writing environment but it does get out the way to allow you to focus on your work Its not a unique valueadd its just good design The shortcuts that sit atop the keyboard are useful and not overwhelming the cursor swipe gesture across that bar is invaluable and the integrated browser that allows you to stay in the app to refer to source material is topnotch The app is something you can use if you just want to write in plain text or if you want to work in Markdown store locally or sync with Dropbox its your choice The default settings are well thought out and look great on a retina display But if you want to change things you absolutely can Margins typeface sizes swipe gestures syntax completion everything its all customizable This is in contrast to apps like iA Writer and iA Pro that make awful design choices without any options and then sell it as being part of a relentless pursuit of simplicity Other apps offer too many choices and are too fiddly to ever get anything done in Editorial strikes the perfect balance of simplicity and customizabiltiy But once you start writing in Editorial and feeling comfortable start exploring there is so much more under the hood This is perhaps what turned me off and left me trying five other apps before this one Editorial has tons of extensible scripting options and Pythonbased text transformation tools that allow users to create their own workflows I had no interest in this and it caused me to think that it was going to be a interminable and fiddly app for those people While I will likely never venture off too far into the world youll find many useful sample scripts that are useful off the bat under the wrench icon in the top right Try it youll probably like it All Im waiting for now is a version that supports iPhone 6 at native resolutions but more of my writing occurs on iPad so its not even close to being a dealbreaker                 Simple and elegant writing tool with powerful toys if you want them
Great app with so many useful features The only problem is that it loses new documents I create while offline every time        Awful offline support
As iPhones are getting more powerful we power iPhone users know that the apps can do more the only limiting factor now is the ambition of the app developer designer And boy is this app ambitious and it doesnt fail in its ambitions either Excellent work                 Insanely good
And it just keeps getting better Release after release Editorial has combined an elegant simplicity that makes it easy to open and get straight to writing paired with unlimited power a la workflows Python and sharing I use it for my Jekyll Github Pages based blog and in this one app Im able to write edit and post to Github in finality Thats a process that even on OS X required at least 2 tools and fairly advanced knowledge of Git and Templating Editorial makes all of these concepts approachable for anyone willing to dedicate a few hours to learning some new concepts And for the Frederico Vetticcis of the world well it is the wand that enables their magic Bravo                 Absolutely Most Powerful Text Editor on the App Store
Greatly improved in the past year Its neither pretty nor fun to use like Matcha but it is very powerful and reliable Syncs flawlessly with Dropbox unlike Ulysses It has just the right tools for serious writers such as the ability to use snippets and drag and drop graphs to arrange a story And if you take the time customize you can in effect build your own writing tool              Greatly improved
Im writing a review for the first time in my life because my mind has been blown This app is insanely good beyound anything I could imagine an iPad text editor could be I have spent a long time looking for the perfect text editor and this is it Thank you author                 Mindblowingly Awesome
Ive looked at more productivity apps than Id like to admit and decided that this one is worth the investment of learning how to use it instead of an easier app Because it bends to you instead of forcing you to bend to the app Theres two things that are drawbacks 1 My phone and ipad versions arent syncing and so far I havent been able to figure out why 2 I wish I could insert pictures info the text I know technically its a text document but it allows linking to images so instead of changing it from a text editor they could display the linked images on the text as part of the app interface without polluting the text document              Almost perfect
Ive toyed around with a few free and paid text editors and this one is without a doubt the best Its not just that it out performs on every metric which you could possibly use to evaluate a writing app It then goes ahead and adds a full blown Python installation and pseudo IDE which can be used to create arbitrary Python scripts that can be run from other apps like workflow and IFTT Editorial is a gateway to creativity and computation that no other app or combinations of other apps can stand up to                 Best Editor and Then Some
A way for programmers to type on the next level Too good to be true                 Brilliant
Very complicated but very powerful You can write Markdown just fine right away but digging in is what makes it special Would like to see extended support for Dropbox sync alternatives                 Get it
Ive used Byword and Nebulous Notes two high quality markdown editors but Editorial tops them both Editorial is a writers dream as it allows markdown header navigation No more scrolling forever to get to the bottom of your document where you need to begin editing And no more scrolling and searching to find the section you are looking for Folding reduces clutter in the workspace These two features make it a standout from other apps for long form writers Integration with Launcher Center Pro for quick access to frequently used documents and quickly creating new notes Recent documents are easily accessible which helps a lot when having to go back and forth between two or more documents Critic Markup and Fountian support Wow Snippets Shortcuts for markdown characters And a workflowmacro editor for accessing some very powerful capabilities but using these is entirely optional for those who want to keep it simple What I do miss is the making workflowsmacros more easily accessible from the shortcut bar like Nebulous Notes Especially an undo button I know I can shake to undo but that is a pain Also it would be nice to have button that takes back to your recent documents when buried deep in nested folder navigation and for global search Thank you Ole for this indispensable markdown editor                 The Best of the Best
The most elegant yet featureladen text editor on any platform really I rely on Editorial for so much that I am frightened to think of what I would do if it ever went away                 The most important app on my iOS devices
I get why it uses Dropbox but I still would prefer a different cloud service provider This is greatly highlighted since this app or Dropbox DID NOT SYNC A FILE CORRECTLY This app is super powerful and fantastic But its only truly great simple to use feature feature for basic users those who dont need a python or JavaScript or whatever else editor is that if you are working on a long document you can do text folding This app and the integration with Dropbox might have made me lose a weeks worth of work Thats unacceptable because I am told it is all super secure and safe and I know it isnt user error because it is all out of my hands        Cloudy thinking
My favorite text editor by far Simple yet rich in capability                 Awesome
Editorial is a serious application that has outstanding multiple capacities from simple text editing to Python programming It is almost the Emacs of iPhones Its modal interface takes some getting used to Expect to spend a few hours before going into the field to take notes You will be rewarded by this well thought out and professional level application                 Excellent professional level app
Nothing compares to Editorial                 Perfect
Powerful programmable plain text editor that also supports Markdown TaskPaper Python scripting Runs on your iPhone and iPad with document syncing via Dropbox Use as is or invest a little time to learn some advanced features for even greater productivity One of the most brilliantly elegant iOS apps out there                 Its Hard to imagine a better editor
Editorial is a remarkable app The workmanship that was put into it really shows I use it mainly as a TaskPaper task manager coupled with Sublime Text PlainTasks on my Mac but I also use it as a simple text editor I havent even scratched the surface of its true depth of functionality but its worth the price even for the simple ways in which I use it Thanks for this amazing piece of software                 Feeling the TaskPaper love
This app is truly the best text editor out there It opens up new territory in iOS apps The workflows and snippets add a much needed dimension to text editors Request comments associated with selections of text The developers updates always exceed expectations Check out the recent addition of fountain and folding text                 Great text editor with a couple of requests
I couldnt use an iOS device without this app anymore Worth many times the price                 Indispensable
This app is simply how an iOS app should be developed highly configurable touchscreen minded and with all the features that are necessary for writing on the iPad The Workflows are an amazing addition and allow the community to contribute in making the app more useful Simply put its the best writing tool for iOS that Ive used Youll save a great deal of time and money by simply getting this one first and reading reviews of the others                 Get this one first
The new themes are even better The combination of Editorial and Pythonista transform the iPad into a very productive platform Use Word for other people if you must Use Editorial for yourself                 Frederico was right
The fact this is a free update is stunning Not much can compare                 Simplest the best
Editorial has been the most customizable plain text editor available With this update Editorial is on steroids with the ability to fold text away to see the big picture yes its now an outliner and move paragraphs around by drag and drop Theres much much more and if you like to tinker workflows                 Stunning update
Editorial is extremely powerful and cool One problem I wish it would stop interrupting my typing when it cant connect with dropbox File transporter support would be great too              This app is great it is the BBEdit of iOS
The 12 update fixed my earlier problems with the app bringing iOS 8 compatibility Editorial has great features and a very clean implementation                 great features
Absolutely the best text editing app there is Editorial lets me use my iPad as a real laptop replacement and in many ways is superior If you write on your iPad you MUST download this                 The best
Cant live without this app When iPhone 66 optimized no doubt I will review 5 stars again                 Very powerful text editor
Powerful workflow actions If an action does not exist for the task at hand Python can be used to create it MultiMarkdown support adds additional power                 Ideal text automation tool
Im late to editorial Ive tried a ton of text editors on my iPhone but none were as powerful or as fun to use as this one Im blown away Now Im looking for a Mac text editor that does everything that editorial does And I cant find one An iOS app is better than anything comparable on OSX The workflows are amazing I dont know any Python but by cribbing from other peoples workflows Ive created some great custom tools that make my iOS writing so much faster I do wish the app had better fountain syntax highlighting inline notes arent differentiated from text but that is a minor niggle from an awesome app I dont write many reviews for apps but this one inspired me Great work                 Best in class text editor
unless you sync it with icloud dont trust that it with your work It stopped working and it just would not open then everything was erased     Untrustworthy
非常非常好终于等来更新了就是牛逼                 不能更牛逼
