Dictapad is a transcription app for the iPad. It assists in the transcription of lectures, interviews or any long audio file by playing back at an adjustable rate while you type. Best experienced with the iPad ...
Cant access a recording sent to me by email Seems overpriced     Its ok
If you are looking for a dictation program as implied by the name of this app run away You get an empty screen basically waiting for you to import some prerecorded audio you want to translate Useless Even more useless if you happen to be holding your iPad in portrait mode then you really have no idea whats going on Dont waste your time or money     Waste of money
I bought this app over DictarePad specifically because its description stated that you could bring audio files in from other apps Dropbox and mail You can from iTunes even from Podcasts and some other sources but not from Dropbox not sure about mail not tried it yet I need to import from Dropbox Looked for how to do this both from DictaPad options and also over on Dropboxs export options but could not find any way to get the audio files I have in Dropbox to be imported to this App Apparently their description is wrong and I do have to go connect this iPad to my PC at home with cable and sync iTunes files just to get what I need What a pain esp since I am not at home now and thus cannot work on my project        Will NOT import audio from DropBox
Got app to help transcribe interviews for my research Everything works snappy and the ability to use a keyboard shortcut to insert timecode is incredibly helpful Its a small detail but the layout of the app is also quite attractive which makes for an overall pleasant experience The only reason I took away one star is because there isnt the ability to play audio at a faster rate There are two options for playing it slower which is great but sometimes its nice to be able to listen to an interview faster to get the gist of things and take general notes ie not transcribe verbatim Otherwise useful app              Almost perfect
Claim of dropbox compatibility is false     Waste of
Totally not what I was expecting I thought it would use voice recognition to auto generate the transcript but you have to type it in yourself And since I dont have a Bluetooth keyboard its pretty useless to me I should have read more carefully but for what it does its kind of pricey too        Not an automated transcriber
I cant say enough about this app I transcribe for a living and use this all day long Ive havent had any issues I definitely back up my work every fifteen minutes or so but I havent needed it yet Its so easy to use Well worth the money for it Plus if you do transcriptions as a job the money you spent for this is tax deductible                 GREAT
I recently got an iPad mini to travel with and I needed the ability to transcribe research interviews Id been using ExpressScribe on my laptop at home so I wasnt sure how Dictapad would work I was so thrilled and surprised to find that the app was cheap easy to use and met all of my needs I use a bluetooth mini keyboard with my iPad mini and Dictapad works great with the keyboard shortcuts There are three options for playback speed and I find that the slowest one is perfect for the pace I need to keep while transcribing Also Dictapad interfaces easily with Dropbox Pages email etc Last but not least after the recent app update I suddenly had an issue opening my audio files I emailed Dictapad and they responded extremely fast and were very helpful I found a quick fix that took less than a minute and now its back to being amazing                 Top productivity app
The sound doesnt even work so the entire app is useless     Complete waste of money
I actually stumbled upon this app while looking for something entirely different and Im so happy I did In my line of work the only other alternative is to pay a skilled and trained transcriber to perform this work Ahh yes Technology indeed drives the cost of things down                 Indispensable tool
No cloud support no way to bring files over via wifi Who wants to put the file in ITunes and sync via a cable        Archaic
No way to record with in the app Like having a writing app without a keyboard What is the developer thinking Add the ability to make a recording in the app and you have a winner     Terrible app
I use this app to transcribe recordings of people speaking With an iPad and a keyboard it works really well It has quick customizable keyboard control of playback and simple file management                 works very well
I appreciate when an app does exactly what it says it will Dictapad does just that a seamless way to transcribe audio files using my iPad The three playback speeds are helpful and the usability factor is really its best feature I applaud the person who took the time to determine which keys are easiest to access for pausestart and the time stamp This app has come in handy for transcribing video interviews at work as well as family chats at reunions captured on QuickVoice Nicely done The only issue thus far was downloading a file from Dropbox The file froze halfway through but all I did was restart my iPad and the file transfer worked No big deal Kudos to the developer              Steve
The audio does not work when I use this app with my iPad Ive followed the directions provided in the app tried different audio formats imported from various recording apps including those suggested within the app itself and the audio still does not work I cant believe I actually paid for this     Unusable
This app is great The keyboard shortcuts make it easy to get around in my audio files and it saves me from having to drag my laptop around with me Im able to move audio in from Dropbox and text out to Pages easily Dictapad is essential to my workflow Im so glad I found it                 Useful App
Ive had this for a few days and it has already become my default application to listen review and study my lessons on my iPad in my particular case language lessons It has a simple interface and very useful features only if I will add you use an external keyboard with your iPad The keyboard shortcuts are a phenomenal help as is the ability to slow down the recording the sound quality isnt the best when you do this but it is good enough for dictation purposes Plus the ability to add inline a timestamp is a great feature If you need a simple effective app for dictation or for detailed study of audio files meaning you need to rewind a lot this app is excellent Highly recommended                 Great app
DictaPad works like a charm Ive been doing transcription for magazines for years and this app has singlehandedly allowed me to give up my computer and Express Scribe single tear and begin a blissfully iPadonly new life Keyboard shortcuts are great app is very stable which is a must and importing and exporting audio and doc files to and from it is easy as pie not to mention the fact that app support is GREAT I emailed the developers with a usage question and got a helpful response within hours DictaPad is awesome I never would have thought that fullyfeatured transcription software would work so well on an iPad but Panchromatic knocked it out of the park                 Completely Excellent
