Device Locator: Track and Locate Your Lost or Stolen iPhone + Google Latitude Integration

Amazing app If you report your phone stolen it will take a pic of the person behind your phone The service is amazing and its the only true true device locator application on the app store Beats the find my iPhone by a longshot Bottom line best 99 cents you will ever spend to protect your phone                 Amazing

The app was great until the latest revision Now it is useless I will explain why The main use of the app is that in case of lost or stolen you could remotely switch the GPS location reporting to emergency mode In this mode you get location in every 1 minute The latest version also has the same facility but with a BIG difference The app developer removed the entire previous fixed polling options Now the app reports a location only if there is a cell tower change The remote from web switch to emergency takes effect only when the app iPhone contacts its web server to report a location change Now imagine that you lost your iPhone in a store or in a ditch You could remotely enable emergency only in case the iPhone detects a change in location For that to happen the iPhone has to move In the previous versions we could enable fixed polling interval thereby you are guaranteed to get a location in every 1030 minutes or the emergency mode starts in 1030 minutes I am great fan on Google Latitude The previous versions of this app reported the location very accurately With the latest revision the app reports the location only when it detects a change in the cell tower Also the reported location is from cell tower triangulation not from the GPS Hence the location accuracy is very very bad I still could not understand why the developer removed the fixed polling interval when lot many other similar apps continue to offer that In nut shell this was a great app but has become completely useless after the latest revision So far so good I wrote on Aug 19 2010 Just bought this app in the morning Works great Location is generally good if you are outside Location is extremely accurate on emergency mode Noticed that the app updates at 15 minites interval several times even after I set the interval as 30 minOnly worry is that the service including the google latitude update is dependent on the webservice provided by the developer If the developer backs out stops the webservice this app will become useless There are some privacy issues as well Agreed that the webpage at devicelocatercom https but how much care the developer will take to protect the data     Latest version made it useless Do not buy this app

Look for an app that actually works and with customer support that actually provides support     Worthless

They just upgraded there servers and it seems to be faster now Very cool to see that they are maintaining their infrastructure I have had some bad experience with other apps where the service just disappeared The service is pretty reliable as well I can track my device from any computer like it mentions in the description Just wanted to complement the team for continuing to improve the app and its services PS The GPS indicator stays on to indicate that the tower switch is enabled Not that the GPS is on Tower switch is one of the location services available on the iPhone and it takes no extra battery power If you think your battery is being used up it is most likely another application                 Working well

I rely on DeviceLocator to keep track of where I have been and when I especially like the optional online site that archives the records I have been using DeviceLocator for several years now and do not know what I would do without it Buy it and give it a try                 Great Application

Been using it for a year now and its been working great One of those set it and forget it apps update just got myself out of a jam turned on emergency mode got a photo of the jerk and got the phone back as soon as he realized what happened tldr turned on emergency mode then turned on alarm got a photo got the phone ps I love the email you get when it snaps a photo It attaches the photo in the email                 Still Working great

This leaves location services on all the time now Battery life is 8 hours when this is on With it off battery life is days The old version would turn off location services when set to a timer mode cron at alarm api If Tower Switch is enabled then Location Services is on all the time This cuts battery life Ideally it would allow location services to be off between polls if not triggering tower switches On the flip side my location is accurate and current It stays running happily and works unlike Latitude which crashes if I stay inapp too long Also this is a server based service even when relaying to Latitude As such ifwhen Ravneet Singh discontinues the product it will cease to operate Lack of residual income on new sales would be the start of the end Its feasible some of this functionality could be replaced with MobileME     New version eats battery limited options

The application has stopped tracking the location Everyday I receive a notice saying that the tracking is not functioning properly Please fix this bug Thank you App has worked great for years until last month Been malfunctioning for a few weeks           Disabled

This is a good app It was better before Apple made them update to get rid of timed location updates I live in NY and my iPad was taken in the airport in Georgia The app along with a similar app FH helped me track it down and recover it with the help of airport security                 Great app for the price

Takes a picture of the person holding the phone and can give you up to the minute data of where your phone is within roughly 30 feet or so                 Buy It Its cheaper than a new iPhone

Ever since I updated to iOS 8 I get constant notification that the app is no longer running in the background I have it set to be allowed to run in the background always and I never close it Yet Im getting this message literally about ever 1015 minutes Fix this bug and Id go up to at least four stars     Used to be great

I agree completley with the prior reviews I use to love this app but now it only update with tower change I use to be able to put it on emergacy mode and it would track with zero issues That is not the case any more I will be looking for a new app     No good

So my Iphone 5s upgraded to the latest IOS and after that I received alerts that Device Locator was disabled Easy to fix Open the app Turn off all settings Then turn all settings back on and it resets Its workinf fine now                 I fixed IOS 7 Upgrade

This app worked beautifully until the latest update It does not track accurately or in a timely manner anymore Im looking for a GPS based tracking app as this one uses cell towers     No longer works

I bought this app incase I ever misplaced my Phone I never thought I would have to use it One day some kids stole my phone and I tracked it to their house and had the police get it I would not of found it without this app                 Awesome App

To be honest I wasnt sure if this app was worth it until I lost my sons iPod Apples Find My iPhone never picked up the device but fortunately I remembered I had this app installed I went to the web site turned the alarm on for the iPod remotely and voila That annoying blaring alarm started going off under the couch cushions almost immediately Thank you Device Locator You saved me a lot of headache                 Works better than Find My iPhone

So accurate today it was possible to tell which room in the house Bought this app to locate lost phones and it works great Now can avoid calling when they are at work also You can have alerts when they move which might be good for kids I do not need the alerts so do not use many features                 Easy quick and accurate

I was trying to find my gfs lost phone and this app gave me the false promise that it could help There is no reason to get this over find my iPhone its less intuitive and doesnt work any bettet     I cant believe I paid for this

Does not take pictures the date and time is wrong on my home computer I ask for help from customer support and they said they would reply within 24 hours nobody ever got back to me It definitely uses up your battery life whoever said it doesnt use up your battery was wrong Ive got a brandnew iPhone with no problems and to buy this app and not have anybody behind it to help out with theres problems is wrong Im going to wait another day or two if somebody doesnt get back to me from customer support Im going to remove this     Bad

Love the app once you set up the account and log in you can trace the device wherever it is Really reliable                 Great app
