Everyone knows that the socalled freemium business model is destroying the app store and now it has reared its ugly head in an attempt to ruin another formerly great app Why would you add inapp purchases to a paid app that already works well What in the world is a comic finder anyway All you should have to do to find your comics is open the app Themes also dont really add anything to this kind of app Im concerned about how my comics look not what the background looks like while I select one The point of this app is to be a lightweight comic reader essentially just a picture viewer for archived files Why add unnecessary clutter and extra features that are less than helpful This is what the last few updates have been about And now the reasoning behind this direction is clear add pointless new features as inapp purchases I wont be updating this app and if I am ever forced to update I will find another app     Why add inapp purchases

Well i bought this app hoping the best turned a terrible app with some annoying bugs You cant drag and drop comics into folders slider feature doesnt work as you want and every time i hit the insert first option it crashes Even free cbr apps are much better than this one     Awful

This app is fantastic If you want to read comics there is no better reading and organizing experience than with CZ9                 ComicZeal is why I own an iPad

More or less a good app but lately its been randomly deleting books I havent read yet Tried to troubleshoot but support is practically nil           Deletes books

Like the previous reviewers mentioned why present this icon like ransom Buy our stuff and we will make it go away I do find that annoying and almost like a slow burn to freemium Also not sure what is going on but every time I go into the app it asks to log into iTunes Just this app Is it trying to restore purchases or something Hate to say it but this app is slowly getting worse with every upgrade     Shopping cart icon

App is crashing constantly when turning pages Sometimes I get through a comic with no issues sometimes it crashes at every few page turns Not thrilled with the view resetting to show the entire page when opening a comic from the menu in landscape was much better when it was fitting to width     Great when it works

Ive seen some reviews below about difficulties transferring comics but Ive been importing comics by activating my computers web browser with the IP address the app provides And from there you literally just drag and drop the comic files into the web browser and the comics are quickly uploaded Ive uploaded up to 50 files at a time and its taken about maybe 1015min The only issues I have with this app is that it has a tendency to just shut down when Im turning a page with a large landscape spread I also have about 70 different series so it can be annoying having to constantly scroll up and down for long periods of time Ive alphabetically sorted the comics to make it easier but it would be nice to have an option to do that built in And there is also definitely a lot of lag opening comics and turning pages              Best comic app Ive found so far

As others have mentioned the page turning is now an awful mess The app will no longer hold your view settings and you have to resize the page on EVERY SINGLE PAGE TURN Slider functions now stick and lock the app up And this pay me for simple themes BS THATS exactly what that isBS Nice try but youll never get another dime out of me If your app so much as touches my apple account with an unsolicited charge youll not like the response used to love this app for its simplicity but youve really buggered the pooch with this latest update AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL     awful update

This update adds a cool new icon a great twopage feature easier sync and an unread filter In other words Comic Zeal is still unbeatable                 Great update

Got the update and wow what a difference Now I have parts of pages Im not reading competing for my attention with the page I AM reading Who thought this made sense visually Im certain there are some folks who appreciate this but I dont so please let me have a proper single page view as an option        Stop improving the app please

Most of my PDFs wont load and the ones that do take about 15 seconds to appear every time I turn a page This is the worst update yet     New update is terrible

This is without a doubt the absolute best way to read comics on iOS It supports all the formats It looks great And best of all its packed with features                 The best comics reading experience on iOS

This is not a bad comic viewer app It has a decently clean UI easy to understand library management and an automatic scroll function a poor mans version of Comixology Guided View My main problem is that in order to get any comic into this reader I have to physically be at my computer Attempting to download comic from Google Drive does not work at all Going through Comic Zeal I can see all of the files but they are all greyed out and unable to be selected If I go through the Google Drive app and try to Open In the Comic Zeal app which some noted on the support website was at one point a valid workaround it says I have no apps that can open that file type This is for both cbr and cbz files On top of that there are numorous threads on the Comic Zeal customer support site about this very same issuesome from as long as 3 years ago There are no comments from them on any that its being worked on or even acknowledge that its an issue If this was a free app then I wouldnt care and my score would probably be higher However this isnt free and is actually quite expensive by comparison I honestly feel ripped off having paid 5 for this app considering I believe this is the first app that I have actually paid for hoping it would be worth it and stand out If they do fix this issue I will gladly raise my score As it stands this feels like an attempt to steal money from people by promising them something that stands above all others and it fails in that attempt        Decent app but no Drive or customer support

The update for Comic Zeal basically broke it for me When you update an app to have brand new big changes then lock them behind a paywall those arent really features so much as an attempt to nickel and dime your customers Comics no longer size to screen properly leaving you with a weird zoomed in look or weird white space margins Page turning was advertised to be faster but if anything it feels like it has more lag and isnt nearly as smooth Luckily I didnt update the app in iTunes so I was able to go back and reinstall the superior version Maybe the next update will fix these issues but until then Ill remain old school     Dud of an update

I wish I knew that Id have to import my books one by one before I paid for this app Im really annoyed Doesnt matter how good the reader is if it takes forever just to get your books into it     One By One

Broke the Assisted Panning It keeps zooming out every time I switch pages Annoying Thanks for the useless multipage feature iPhone is a little too small to view two pages at once I also cant seem to lock the zoom anymore either I preferred the simple old icon        Downgrade

Great app for reading and sorting and storing digital comics This is worth buying Reading is very iOS standard and does a great job of page turningflipping Its very fast too It handles rotation and zooming and scrolling very very well Its a great app and I love it I gave it 5 stars Im pointing out some of the difficulties below since its a 5 app I thought Id get a little nitpicky before you buy it The menu is a slightly different interface than many other iPad apps but youll get used to it Selecting and sorting is different in a way that KIND of makes sense but the standard delete swipe to left isnt supported If you swipe wrong it actually tells you not to swipe that way instead of just doing the swipe which is kind of strange it seems like they only support one kind of swipe so why they are particular Im not sure You have to drag your comics over via iTunes You can sort of get to your DropBoxBox files but its inconvenient from that app and download and select open in but its awkward and slow especially if you want to do more than one                 Great Comic Reading app Worth the money

Cannot recommend this update I read primarily mangas so right to left but the two page view broke everything In single page mode it doesnt even render the page and opening up an unread rtl comic in two page view makes the app flip out like its confused whether to show two pages or just one for the cover I had to set my comics Western style in order for it to be readable     Broke manga style

Ive been using ComicZeal since it launched and its been my goto comic reader However I am not too happy about this update I dont mind the introduction of IAPs when done nicely but here the themes we liked are supposedly tweaked but in fact gone and replaced by their uglier cousins no doubt to push you towards shelling out for more themes I dont mind the Comic Finder being a purchase but the shopping cart icon whose sole purpose is to hold you ransom until you pay to make it disappear is ridiculous The developer KNOWS you dont want to see it there on your toolbar and explicitly tells you the only way to remove it is to buy ALL IAPs Was he drunk and thought this would be a funny prank           Starting to feel bloated and grabby

And I love bacon I love this app more than Hulk loves to smash The interface is beautiful and mostly intuitive I love the multiple views and the easy importation from Dropbox and such particularly now that theyre addressing a bug which made me restart in order to import Ive tried quite a few readers so my having settled on this one is the result of some searching                 Love it more than bacon

I dont see why we have to pay 2 dollars for some themes and two more for some finder feature Why not just include them for free and stop cheating on existing users I also think the new icon is disgusting please change it back I would actually prefer a downgrade to Comic Zeal 8     InApp Purchases

Latest update broke the app When trying to read a comic the screen garbles with a bunch of pages and then turns black Do not update until this has been fixed     DONT UPDATE Current version unusable

I dont particular mind the notion of in app purchases of those purchases are actually worth it I just spent two bucks for themes that not only dont look good but all look EXACTLY ALIKE I like the idea of buying new themes but just need to look good like some time and effort was actually out into each one Also the ability to dump all unread comics into one area is cool but that should have been a feature added for free in the new update If you want to keep making money on an app that most of your users already own just open a theme store              One star taken away for bad in app purchases

Need to update more having crash issues when trying to read comics and for 5 I expect some more updating Will be using another app until you get things together        Still a good app but

This app will not disappoint you I use it to read my comics from the Humble Bundle its smooth as silk You will probably not be disappointed                 The best comic reader app

This was one THE best comic reading app but those days seem like a distant memory Passcode locking has been broken for about two years with an unaddressed ticket on the support site The latest version seems to use any extra space beside the current page to show the next and previous pages which is horrible I used to love this app but now Im just saddened by each new release     Continued disappointment

Worked perfectly and then for no reason at all the cover pictures stared to be incorrect So incorrect Im not even sure where they came from Every single comic I put on it throws up the same cover Its annoying and there is no bug button or anything        Worked finefor a while

Every few chapter the first few pages will refuse to load in single page view mode only appearing in twopage mode Yet another update where ComicZeal decides to update their look while breaking basic functionality     Broken update

Used to be the best app on the App Store but the latest update deleted my library Im bummed Crashes a ton now too     Not what it once was

It has been working fine with almost no problems besides a few small personal preferences but lately comics have gone completely missing from my rack theyd be in a group and show in the number of comics in that group but theyre completely gone when you go into the group please fix this fast     PLEASE UPDATE SOON

Its not cool that I can hide that stupid shoping cart icon unless I purchase both the new iaps I dont need the new comic finder feature since I delete a comic immedietly after I finish reading it to keep space free So all my issues are unread The new themes dont suit my fancy either So as much as I would love to support development and purchase something of use I have no need for either and its unfair to have to be subjected to always seeing the stupid shopping cart icon Especially since I spent 5 on this premium app years back with expectations that it would remain a premium app without such blatant product placement Also theres an annoying bug that has broken the reading function and the pages dont show up I love this app and I hope the dev rights the wrong and fixes the bug But just as they held my premium reading experience for ransom I too will hold my 5 stars as a user ransom until these two items are addressed BTW I do love the new icon        I dont need nor want the iaps

I have LOVED this appuntil today This was a 5 star app before these updates The page turning is so distracting The updates make me not want to read my comics Please consider changing the way the page turning feels I promise to revisit this review The only reason I did not give 1 star is because i have enjoyed comic zeal so much in the past I would love to change this to a 5 star review Thank you        Update
