If you havent updated dont If you are thinking of buying wait I have used this product in French language school in Paris since September Content is fantastic It is worth the money if you are seriously studying French It has a fantastic dictionary with many expressions and the conjugation tables are a huge help Unfortunately the latest update crashes constantly and is not worth the money until these issues are resolved     Update is a dud

This dictionary app has a good intermediate vocabulary but it is yet another dead silent app It needs the important features Audio Collins MiniGem FrenchEnglish beginners vocabulary app has It needs 1 audio pronunciations in French and in English that do not require internet connection and 2 a Random Word button           App Needs Audio Pronunciations Random Word Button

Also please implement the system wide back gesture     No updates

Used Collins and ultralingua for a few years Great dictionary Great software Please update it to universal app so I can use it on my iPad as well              Please add iPad and iOS support

This is easily the best French dictionary app A lot of care was put into making the interface clean and intuitive And the content comes from LeRobert arguably the most authoritative source possible for the French language The only issue is that its clumsy to close definitions You open a definition by tapping on the word but to close you have to click on a little arrows button on the other side of the screen The definitions also stay open forever so after awhile a bunch of definitions are open Id expect them to be closed automatically at some point like when you open the app              Great app with one little issue

I tried a bunch and this one was by far the best and most expensive French dictionary for the iPhone I wish I would have just spent the money on this one first and not wasted it on the the cheaper ones that had such a limited selection of words                 The best and most expensive

Just moved to France and I have only one year of middle school French under my belt Up to now Ive relied upon my notsolittle pocket dictionary but its both too bulky to actually put in a pocket and lacking in what one really needs when learning a language living here traveling etc those fine distinctions subtle differences in meaning and most of all lots and lots of examples So I knew I needed something else I gulped very very hard at the idea of spending so much but I NEEDED it How has it turned out How practical is it Suffice it to say Id pay twice as much if I had to A great dictionary is indispensable when learning a language or livingtraveling somewhere And this is a great dictionary Best of all it fits in my pocket with ease                 Exactly what I need

Not bad but not great either Overall it will get the job done better than the free options out there but just barely The app is really sluggish on the iPad 2 it cant even keep up with the slowest typer There are a lot of words missing and more annoyingly youre frequently brought to the wrong word when presented with words that have similar spellings If they can iron out these flaw then the app wouldnt be so bad it wont replace a higherend dictionary but itll definitely get you through basic French classes           Needs some work

Bought this application when I moved to Montreal for school I totally love it especially after the new update that suggests a word as you type it Developers please add the pronunciation feature                 Great dictionary

I bought this application It is fairly nice to have the verb conjugation feature However it runs slowly on iphone 3G Perhaps it will be faster on 3Gs Another thing 2499 is a bit pricey Had I known another cheaper dicitonary I would not have paid so much           Nice application but too pricey

My intentions in buying this app was to have an aid in my study of French as I am presently taking French in school What I got was an excellent albeit cumbersome and somewhat lacking resource First of all this is a powerful app and I look forward to using it when I forget a conjugation or some vocabulary but where this app is majorly lacking is the absence of a translator or something to help in basic sentence structure Sentences are formed slightly differenly in Fench than they are in English and it would be nice to have something to display the proper way to form a sentance I wouldnt even mind if it was simply a tool where you could write and have it correct you in French and then spits it back out in English or correct French For a 25 app I wouldve hoped it would had something to actually form sentences So would I recommend this Yes but only if you know how Fench is structured already or you just need a powerful reference tool dont buy it If youre starting w the language           A mixed bag

This was a great app until they updated it They changed everything that made it awesome and easy to use Tasks in the previous version which were repetitive for you now zero themselves out and you have to start from the beginning and go through each step every time you want to conjugate a verb or some other task I wish I had known how bad they ruined this once truly awesome program I would have never updated it BEWARE this 4 12 star rating you see it is for the old version not this junk Do not waste your money     They updated this app and ruined it Do not waste your money

The history function is great you can go back and study words youve looked up The only words I have been unable to find are fairly obscure A random word feature would be a great addition Highly recommended                 Quick and comprehensive

The new iOS7 update makes all three of my Collins dictionaries crash immediately on launch Thats an investment of nearly 100 rendered completely useless Fix this     Completely broken

I love the new interface Im a daily throughtheday student user Fast search with everything I need instantly without having to fumble around No mode switching required Have had this a while in its prior version and I am BLOWN AWAY by the rewrite Nicely done ultralingua                 Outstanding

WellI study Romance Languages Spanishmy first language Italian 2 yrs of it and I am about to start French and Portuguese I own Collins Spanish and Italian pro and I just bought this one for French I am confident that It wont let me downespecially since such an old company is behind these apps it beats carrying a dictionary with you which does not conjugate verbs and does not write numbers for you BUYT IT Its worth every penny                 I love these dictionaries

This dictionary is a necessity for any native Englishspeaker studying the French language or visiting a francophone country While in France this summer I enjoyed the fact that I didnt need to be online to use it Also in my French courses at Texas AM using this app is so much more convenient than flipping through a paper dictionary Love it                 I love this app

Expensive but excellent product I thought would last me for many years Little did I know I would have to change computers and Collins would not let me transfer the program to my new one I cannot ever recommend a product that the publisher will not support Totally wasted 25     No publisher supportno recommendation

This functions as a true French dictionary complete with IPA for all entries As expected multiword expressions are hard to find but its great overall              A true French dictionary

I like the new format although it may have been implemented some time ago I took 18 months off from French so these improvements may have been in place for awhile This is a thorough reference source I may not ever use it to its fullest 5 stars NK                 Vast improvements

This is not just a simple translation dictionary It covers the complexity of language and gives you many ways of dealing with this complexity You must read the instructions carefully to get full benefit from this dictionary In some ideal sense it is impossible to translate from one language to another as each language is ultimately idiomatic But this is addressed implicitly by this dictionary It must be one of the best                 Flexible French English Dictionary

Bought this app because I own the paper version of RobertCollins This app is not even close to the paper version Lots of words are missing very few example sentences Very disappointing     Poor dictionary

This app is great So much better then a book I can look up things so fast It would be cool if you could bookmark words and review them later like a flashcard feature                 Soooo convenient

I got this to supplement my thoughts as I strive to relearn French using Rosetta Stone Rosetta is like being dropped on a desert island where they dont speak anything but the other language and they dont answer questions And I had what I thought were simple questions But looking up something very simple like a two letter word produces a page with a screen or two of boxes IN FRENCH Even though Im theoretically in the FrenchEnglish directional dictionary It then moves into a fairly chaotic list of examples that is long and confusing but at least there is some ability to compare English and French if you can sift through patiently Until you come to a couple more boxes One is in French The other is in English but is NOT repeating the information given in the French box I had four years of French awhile back so Im able to discern at least that much I have absolutely no idea why a theoretically reputable publisher would provide definitions and complex information in the opposite language to the one being sought except for gaining the high price of course But even then it is an inexplicable level of ineptitude and makes no sense whatsoever At this price Ill be needing my money back And I will fight for it if necessary     Surprisingly chaotic

After the latest update which includes iPhone 5 support I can no longer search for words in French or in English When I touch the search bar nothing happens This is a great App but this problem needs to be fixed ASAP           What Happened

I am very impressed with this app I had been using a FrenchEnglish bilingual dictionary on my Blackberry I have forgotten the publisher and thought that was nice But this app totally blows the BB app away One really cool feature is that it will recognize conjugated verbs what a time saver Add to that the fact that it has full conjugations for every verb and you have a really useful app 25 seems like a steep price but I am happy with my purchase Navigation is taking me a little bit of time to get used to but I am new to the iPhone so I suspect the difficulty is with me not the app                 So much better than what I had been using

Works well for verb conjugations Vocabulary is too limited If you need a dictionary for the lesscommon words in French literature even modern literature this may not be it For more common words its fine but it doesnt compare with my old heavy Collins Robert French Dictionary           Not bad not great

Good dictionary with many usage examples HOWEVER limited scrolling which is disappointing if you like to read dictionaries eg Enter the letters ab and you will get the first ten or so entries beginning with ab You cannot scroll further              limited scrolling

An terrific resource for quick consultations Wonderful for an high intermediate reader like me who often needs a clarification buy doesnt want to haul around a heavy dictionary The interface is great because it anticipates the word as you type and if your French spelling is weak like mine is is saves a lot of time              Great tool

Id heard good things about this app but thus far precisely none of the words Ive looked upprescience grits and sprocketare in the dictionary Had I known this prior to purchase I would have continued to do what Ive always done which is to type the English term French into my phones internet browser sprocket french for example and arrive at the translation Im looking for The ludicrous price tag on this app has left me with nothing but an incurable case of buyers remorse              Dont waste your money
