Coach Jays Chess Academy

This is the best app Ive seen so far to help you learn chess The lessons and the puzzles that follow each lesson are great at training you in real game situations The fun facts and trivia between each puzzle are a nice feature My only issue is that the lesson navigation is a little clunky Not intuitive Besides that small issue this is a great chess app                 Good lessons easy to follow fun

This app is perfect for teaching anyone young or old about the game of chess Unlike most other apps it goes through tactics and other subjects that will make anyone fully understand the game Excellent work                 Amazing

First the concept and the puzzles are great for learning Im an adult thats wanted to learn how to think systematically about Chess and this app definitely fits the bill The puzzles progress nicely from topic to topic However it really seems as if the creators took a desktop game and slammed it into a mobile app Theres a lot of minor glitches and its rather clunky For instance sometimes instructional screens get stuck on the last screen Theres even been phantom pieces that are supposed to part of the puzzle but dont display And more than anything Id like to disable the music permanently Most of the time it doesnt get in the way of learning Overall excellent content              Great for learning interface could use a lot of work

For 5 dollars I got a lot more out of this than some chess books Filled with tons of chess pearls Great workbook but wouldnt say a stand alone product for chess mastery However it is fun well done and great for all ages Looking forward to future belts                 Great value

I cant say enough about the quality of the lessons and the puzzles However there are a lot of glitches in the program Some lessons freeze and cannot be finished Despite that you can go on to the puzzles and get the idea of what must have been said Completing all of the stages in a belt does not open the completed level belt Because it is an in app purchase it cannot be shared in the family on other devices There is no way to have multiple users so everyone has to write their progress down on paper to remember where they left off All things considered it is worth it to put up with these inconveniences for the great education              Good education but glitches

I payed for the full app and have played through a lot of the puzzles but now it wont let me go on and saids I need to pay for the full app Which I have already done Very frustrated I was really impressed with the appwhen it worked properly and enjoyed all the puzzles I think it was after the update when this problem started It still shows that Ive played through a lot of the puzzles but wont let me go back in to them or continue because it wants me to pay for the app again Which I will not do Im not going to give you guys money because you cant properly set up an app Please please fix this issue     Wants me to pay again

I originally bought this app for my gifted children who were bored But I feel in love with it to This app made chess both accessible and enjoyable Coach Jay does a wonderful job explaining complicated concepts Thank you coach Jay                 Love it

I really wanted to learn to play chess and this app taught me At first I thought it may only for kids but turns out its great for adults too Coach Jay teaches you everything from the basics of chess to advanced technique The app is interactive educational and tons of fun It also has a personal feel to it with Coach Jay there to guide you each step of the way A must download                 Great chess app for anyone who wants to learn to play

My 6 year old enjoys doing these puzzles as long as I rule out the fun iPad games Note that they require that the child be a decent reader The interface is a bit clunky And I wish there was an option for multiple logins so that more than one person could do the exercises But its generally quite helpful              Recommended

First the bad bits The typeface is awful Its almost as if they deliberately designed the text to be difficult to read Also the text appears to be an image rather than a label or text area with actual text content actively defeating accessibility tools like VoiceOver VoiceOver would be a huge benefit since my 4 year old cant read yet but would be able to have the text read to him by iOS Several of the lessons get hung on the final screen Also the achievements are not integrated with GameCenter and Ive had a few achievements not unlock properly if you dont get 3 stars on the last exercise of that level the first time In addition to tapanddrag the movement should support tap piecetap target location because on a small screen the board is obscured by handfinger Now the good bits If you persist despite the warts youll definitely improve Both my 4 year old son and I have drastically improved our games He cant read yet but yesterday asked to use the chess app to get better after losing via 2 checkmates in a row              Excellent content UX needs work

This app is AWESOME Not only is it a great tool for learning to play chess but it digs deeper and teaches technique and strategy as well Additionally its FUN Its graphics sound effects and fun little coaching blurbs make it both entertaining and educational for all ages I downloaded it last night and couldnt put it down for hours Its definitely worth every penny to unlock the whole app                 GREAT APP FOR ALL AGES

Good app The lessons are more than worth the inapp upgrade price Recommended unless you or your child would be frustrated with having the achievement belts fail to open when all five stages of a level are completed              Good but achievements arent working correctly

I cannot recommend this app enough to all the parents out there Chess has changed my sons life 5 is less than half the price of any chess book PLUS your kid can try it for free I am amazed at the improvement in my sons academic performance since he began playing chess especially after he began playing this app We taught him the loves long ago but this app helped him get past the hump and understand the game Its amazing how dramatically Ive seen his thinking improve since he began chess                 The best way for your kid to learn chess

We were so lucky that our school chess master recommended this app to us My daughter who is in grade one started chess in September unfortunately she is not blessed with a mom who plays chess Problem solved Coach Jays chess app to the rescue This app will give your child and quite frankly any adult all the tools necessary to master the basics of chess and then progress to be a force to be reckoned with The app follows a logical progression with cute antidotes and encouragement along the way I would have paid a lot more for this app it is really like having a private chess Tudor that you have 247                 A Must Have

I am a 40 year old casual chess player who is now getting more serious about cultivating my game This app is GREAT for brushing up on priorities during play And Jay is so encouraging I actually run through the exercises sometimes glad I am also being motivated by positive reinforcement Haha So please ignore the marketing to kids This apps training program will take you from a casual player to a skilled player in 30 days And its not all cut throat and cold like chess culture usually seems to be Coach Jay actually seems like he enjoys chess AND people Nice So download this app I personally would have paid twenty dollars for this if I knew what it would do for my game Five stars                 Learning chess Get this

I cant say anything bad about this other than when I look at my achievements I dont seem to get the white master belts and so on when I have all 3 stars Also theres an annoying glitch with the menu when you switch to different belts and becomes unhighlighted when your working on that level belt              Will help you improve your game of your new

There are plenty of chess apps out there but this one is particularly great because it teaches you to play better It has kidfriendly graphics and sound effects but you can learn from it no matter your age Love the update                 A chess app that actually teaches you something

I really enjoy this app but in some of the later lessons in white belt 2 the continue button will get grayed out while its explaining something and you cant see the rest of what it was going to say           Broken

I have been enjoying and playing around at chess for over 40 years I really feel bad but never realized that you always turn the board so that a white square is at the lower right corner I cant wait to learn more that I overlooked for all these years                 Great for an old guy who has been playing around for many year

My 9 year old son really likes the app It reminds me of the book Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess in the way the concepts are taught but since its on the iPad its a lot more accessible My son has been doing 10 puzzles or so a day for the past couple weeks and is getting noticeably better at spotting tactics which at his age and level is where most of the mistakes come so after he finishes working through the puzzles we can start working on learning strategy                 best chess app for learning foundational skills
