I have been using this app for Chinese study for a few years and still love it I have also purchased the other apps for the languages that I study off and on I think that the multiple approaches to learning the words audio visual is perfect for people studying Chinese and trying to nail the tones and characters I highly recommend this app and actually all the language apps from Declan I love this app Veronicahen
Great app The best feature is the custom word file I can share the list with my students I wish the share code can be reused when I update the list But now every time I change the list I have to upload and use a new share code User Tanglaoshu
I know quite a bit of Chinese but I have found this system of flash cards to be intelligently designed and very useful for reviewing and also for learning new words The pronunciation is excellent and very clear Very useful Student of Mandarin7777
Thank you for your work If you could add male voices it would be super User Ton gon
After the program stopped working on my iPod I emailed them told them my problem and in the same day was given clear instructions about how to fix the problem Great Helpful support staff Bob Dave Thomas smith
Great tool to learn Chinese Great tool Vn63
I ve taken a year of Chinese in college It has correct sounds from what I have heard Same about the characters Great app I give it a 4 because I wish it had a feature that would say the words in English then say the word in Chinese Other than that perfect Fun app Great app äšć
This app functions as a game for me which is good because learning a new language is intimidating Just right Hikejo
I am using these flashcards to learn to read Chinese I like the selection of words which looks like it came from a corpus based on newspapers On the negative side there are several mistakes in the cards either pinyin or pronunciation wrong tone voiced I sent them several of these mistakes but after being completely ignores I just stopped sending them So go ahead and purchase if you can spot the mistakes If you are a beginner this is probably not for you Good words too many mistakes r b w
It s a game that actually teaches you Nice training Ben92u
Sometimes the definitions are too long and either difficult to read or unreadable depending on which section you are using Sometimes they give two very similar words and that makes it difficult to chose the correct amswer Not a bad app overall but only as a supplement to your lamguage study Not bad MaikKubo
I ve noticed a few mistakes It s ok Qwerty1219
It s a good app to teach you characters but it is what it is you won t learn to speak much at al Good for characters Glen Cornell
Learning mandarin has proven difficult for me in spite of already speaking 5 other languages But this program has helped me tremendously It reinforces the reading and the listening skills Not perfect bit that s ok Still ver valuable Live this app Deestuff
The app doesn t work after not just one update but 2 Do not buy this app it is not worth the money Please fix this app to get it to work correctly After update Thisappdontwork
I was a bit hesitant to spend more than 10 on any app but I was pleasently surprised Within 15 minutes I learned to read and understand some of the most common words and even though this was just very basic the learning list is also absolutely fabolous The only thing problematic with Chinese is that due to the language being signs 2 of the exercises are extremely similar Maybe the developer should change one of them to pinyin Anyhow I am still impressed how good this application works and I am happy to have spent the money on it 0 crashes or issues so far Good for beginners Jonas Bollack
The same great Declan flash cards I used on my Palm The iPod version comes with an awesome training interface that can test your recognition of pronunciation characters and word meaning When you miss some words the program automatically includes them in extra drills The vocabulary lists come in different themes that allows you to select the topic of interest I have two minor complaints First there are several dozen vocabulary lists Only three come preinstalled The rest must be downloaded individually inside the application This is quite tedious The second feature needing upgrading are the number of words you can have in a test set For example if there area group of 50 vocabulary words you can either have the default group of 9 tested at a time or all 50 No amount in between A minor bone of contention is the choice of words in the vocabulary lists and associated Hanzi Not all of the words chosen are the most common Most people will want to know the word for floor as opposed to carpet The word for plate die2 is a second alternative to panzi2 Also the Hanzi character chosen in some cases is the less common form Take bei1 cup for example I actually had to look up the word in my dictionary to confirm the more archaic form of the character used was actually correct Solid Minnesota Steve
Much better than other Chinese learning apps because the drills are varied and reinforce each other Good vocabulary lists too I d like to see more drills especially for listening practice to add to an already great app Also this has never crashed on me Good drills dittonamed
TOO MANY BUGS The app keeps quitting saying I already finished wordsets when I have never looked at them never letting me review them continuously shutting down freezing my i touch I havent been able to review any sets yet If this program worked it might be worth the money Keyword IF As it is not even worth downloading if it were free Constantly shuts down Huge Waste of Money ALEX>
Comprehensive vocabulary lists and great exercises for sound and character memorization Unfortunately the sound files are really quiet even with the iPhone and in app volume turned all the way up In my experience ambient noise in public spaces quickly overwhelmed head phone listening and without head phones words were difficult to hear even in quiet locations Great program Audio is too quiet Dr. Kaletronic
Been using declans pc software since 2005 This app is well worth the money Endless amount of word lists Love it baggesen
This app has a tendency to freeze too easily when you review vocab quickly Needs work Playdoc
Sorry After reload worked fine TKsteve
I tried tapes and other programs but it just wasn t sticking I started with the free lite version and learned more words in two days than I had learned in weeks with the tapes and two weeks in China I thought that any flash card app would be as good and so I bought a cheaper app This was a mistake as I was not learning new words with this less expensive app So I came back and purchases this full version I went from thinking that learning languages just wasn t for me to feeling quite confident that I will master Chinese This app is a winner Works for me SiteArtist
