Bloom, the acclaimed app by ambient pioneer Brian Eno and musician / software designer Peter Chilvers has been fully reworked to take advantage of the iPad s larger screen. As part of the first wave ...
I like bloom using it on my iPad Notice that the shuffle mood doesnt work automatically although the shuffle delay and shuffle sound does              Very zen
Very relaxing and enjoyable I use it at work and just tap periodically to change the music              Very relaxing
I have found a little gem This app is very innovative as well as interactive Try not to become hypnotized                 Super
Love the app love Brians music love the design but please make an update with retina support for the new iPad It looks terrible on the new screen                 Favorite app in need for an update
I downloaded this on a whim and am so glad I did Its great fun to sit and compose music or just to sit back and see what it comes up with My friends like to play with it too so it becomes a sort of group activity when were bored Its a delightfully entertaining app but can also help you relax at work                 Fun Relaxing Entertaining
I own the iphone version as well and Im pleased with it Got the iPad version and the screen is typically all black and doesnt display the circles unless I reboot Very frustrating This does not happen with the iPhone version on the iPad In addition I see no significant additional functionality here Maybe its here but if it is its utterly lost on me These guys should have just created one universal app and should be ashamed for charging separately for an iPad version and then selling one hat doesnt work to top it off Do not recommend buying     App doesnt work no real functionality beyond the iphone version
Music is boring Moods all sound the same Visualizations are boring Waste of money     Boring waste of money
Great concept beautiful sounds A fine tool for teaching patience and love of randomness Thank you for NOT having a save function every moment is different and that is something worth experiencing in a world that records everything Like the old saying goes You cant step into the same river twice                 Wonderful
Beautiful meditative enthralling are just a few words to describe this lovely app Eno is a genius Bloom is just more proof                 Absolutely Lovely
I dont understand the high ratings Sometimes touching the screen makes a sound and sometimes not Lots of buttons on the app but they dont seem to do much of anything The music all sounds the same no matter what No real instructions exist on how to use the app or what each button is for I found the background drone annoying I want to like this program but I just dont     Very Disappointed
Wow what a trip Like the bathrooms graffiti in art school said Eno Is God Too much fun to be legal Makes you feel like your having a flashback and want to quit Roxy Music But really if youve been listening to Eno for the last 30 plus years like me and you love his pieces like the shutov assembly or the ambient pieces from the bloom album You will love this app it is as beautiful visually as it is sonically not to mention intuitve theres even a neroli preset just love it try it now                 Possible musics at your fingertips
It makes nice soundsambient hooks depending on the mode you use digging infinite as it loops and then you can start layering to make an ambient hook like a chilled out aphex twin my next work with this will be titled wind chimes on Whatever lance Armstrong took                 Worthy
The idea behind the app is wonderful and the possibilities are limitless but for a developer named Opal Limited theyve designed at app that lives up to their name What appears on the surface to a zenlike and charming ambient soundmusic generator turns out to be a trickpony with a big name Eno attached to lend credibility After about 12 minutes with this app youll be looking for options or customizations or other sounds or anything to take the experience to some other level Except theres nothing there Imagine buying a game with only one simplistic level It would get old real fast Thats Bloom I thought this would great for me as I love ambient music and Enos work as well as my 10year old daughter but without any kind of options or ability to really change things beyond a slight color shifting of the background and a barely noticeable alteration of the musical bed we were both left with a big meh For the money I recommend buying the GarageBand app where you can create layers of sound play instruments record and have a lot of fun Or just buy an Eno CD if there were a way to return an app for a refund Bloom would be gone for us For now it sits on our iPad unused and unloved Again the possibilities for something fantastic were there but Opal Limited never really lets Bloom bloom the way it could have Just my two cents Cheers        Very boring very quick
Nice sounds and inventive idea but the inability to reocordcapture performances makes this a toy and not a tool Im a music pro and was hoping for moreespecially considering the developers my heart sank as I came up with a great piece only to know that I couldnt ever use it Im sure Mr Eno would explain that Im missing the point Oh also this needs an undo so you could build pieces by trial and error Oh wait you cant record performances pro version pls go ahead and charge me more        Beautiful but woefully crude
This app does not appear to be functioning correctly When I start it the screen just stays black I can hear the music but dont see anything I want my money back     Broken
Boohiss        Video is broken by iOS 42
Doesnt work with new OS     Please fix the video
I love this apps simplicity and the quiet joy of listening to my compositions Its beautiful but the real subtle power of this one is that it allows me to create my favorite type of music myself Truly wondrous                 Ran it for hours after downloading
This app is interesting but lacks depth Other than the colors displayed on the screen theres very little difference between the apps various moods The app also sometimes decides that it doesnt want to play any more new notes Theres no indication as to when this will happen        Interesting but not great
Instead of trying to cram a traditional instrument into an iPad this app uses the interface to create a new instrument                 Must buy
This is the app I go to every single day or night to be exact I use the sleep timer create a pattern and let it lull me to sleep The moods are very different despite the reviews that say it all sounds the same Each mood has a different key and mode there are 7 modesMajor minor Dorian etc So each mood has a specific palette of notes that are used to create different feelings Its all very subtle but subtlety is at the core of Ambient music i feel sorry for the ones who paid and just dont get it but if you know Enos work you will understand this app                 Addictive
Truly wonderful app Designed by one of the best avantgarde artists Brian Eno Try it it is worth it                 Beautiful soundscapes Eno style
I did not know what to expect or what kind music I was going to experience when I first downloaded Bloom HD The thought of alien music had me a bit skeptical but after my first thirty minutes of listening playing creating and experimenting I can assuredly say that I am looking forward to many more hours of enjoyment with this interesting new App I can also say the best way to describe it is that it reminds me of various scales of wind chimes which I also enjoy I highly recommend this App It is a bit different but the price is well worth it and if you are around my age mid 50s youll find it fun to play with the colors and sounds relaxing I am looking forward to trying them out with headphones                 Love it
A little more variety in instruments a little more control in BPM looping and a little more polyphony would really make this a perfect app The ability to modify the native sounds waveform and additional effects would also be an excellent addition to this Reminds me of Electroplanktonan app I would really love to see on the iPad              Excellent soothing app but
I was happy to see an iPad version of this and bought it immediately Its as good as the iPhone version with a number of new features but there are some distracting differences as well I miss being able to shake to clear and it seems to run out of polyphony after a while something I never noticed in the iPhone version New notes light up but dont necessarily make any sound some do some dont especially if notes are played rapidly Hopefully an easy fix in a future update              As good as the iPhone version with exceptions
Absolutely fantastic Stimulating and soothing simultaneously Words cannot do this app justice You will not be disappointed with this purchase                 Amazing
As an afficionado of new age and ambient music I found this to be an interesting app but the conception is better than the execution There is very little variety either in terms of the sounds or the sights so it always looks and sounds pretty much the same And there is no description of what it is doing or what the menu options accomplish So its nice but somewhat disappointing because it could have been great           A solid single but not a homerun
This app is great If your a fan of Brian enoor just dig ambient music this app is a must A simple yet intuitive generative music app                 Awesome
If Eno Rich Budd and Roach are meaningful names to you you must get this app If you are new to the world of ambient music welcome To me ambient music works in the back of my brain calming it at the same time gently stimulating thought processes I use different types for work relaxing and sleep Bloom is more of a work app for me trope is definitely a sleep app Those of us who like trippy floaty musical expressions will enjoy this app Those who do not get it do not but please dont fault the app simply because you dont care for the genre Thats like me bashing Mudflaps HD because I dont like truck racing goes off to code Mudflaps HD                 Love this app
This app is amazing Subtle tones of color and sound drop onto the screen Use headphones or your stereo for full effect Plugged in my composite cable Would be even better if the video signal was sent Alien technology at its finest                 IPad Soma
This is an app which has vastly exceeded my expectations I had used the iPhone version before but this is definitely an improvement Recommended for tripping out and listening to great ambient music Support artists like Brian Eno by buying this                 One of the coolest apps ever
and other similar composers then you should really enjoy this app because it provides a clever way of actually interacting with music that is constantly evolving or as Eno says generating If this kind of music makes no sense to you or if you just dont like it then for heavens sake dont buy the app But these negative reviews seem to be basically criticizing the whole concept of ambient music which obviously is not to everyones taste and really have nothing to do with Bloom which a very nice extension of this musical category into a new medium Personally I love both the music and the app I cant wait for HD versions of the other two related apps Trope and Air                 If you like and understand Eno Feldman
I noticed the same thing with the polyphony Id love to see a fix for this but Im not holding my breath                 Same thing with the polyphony
Ive really been enjoying Bloom for the iPad but the app suddenly doesnt have any visuals and the ambient background sounds have disappeared I tried redownloading it and again no visuals no ambient sounds There seems to be a bug in there Im really bummedout as I LOVE Bloom Help                 Not sure what happened
Even better than the original surpassing my expectations                 Fabulous
There is no way to edit the sounds You cannot change anything at all It sounds cool at first but then you realize that is all there is Nothing new the next time you play with this app Easy to use because there is nothing to edit        Starts sounding the same
The fact that the range of sounds and sonic textures is limited misses the point completely This is an idea generator for melodic and rhythmic motifs and hooks Its not a DAW Is a source for ideas to bring to life elsewhere For that its quite good really                 To those who see the apps limitations
Bloom is a great concept but there could be updates to improve it Basically Im just looking for many new sounds so it doesnt sound montonomous Please look into improving Bloom and making it more flexible with more variety thanks              Needs more sound variety
I dont usually write reviews but this app is just wonderful I would have paid more than the price for this its that good Wonderful for just getting lost in and creating music and colors or just switching it to listen mode to create some ambience I would give this app 10 stars if I could                 This alone makes the iPad worth it
Please add landscape view support via Airplay using my AppleTV so i can put the visuals up on my TV in landscape view Currently the image is locked in portrait view THis should be pretty simple to add Just make the app cognizant of the orientation of the iOS device              Airplay Support
This app is incredible worth it The music it creates is beautiful and all of it is right at your fingertips BUY IT                 Amazing
This is by far the coolest app Ive got on my iPad Very relaxing to pick up the pad and take a little music break when Im stressed out To one of the other posts I read The moods change the colors genius they dont change the sound Lol The only feature its missing is a way to clear the song when youre playing on full screen mode                 Coolest app Ive found so far
Im not sure i get the point of this app but its fun to watch              I dont get it Still fun
Its well worth it Keeps you entranced and very calm                 Relax
Never before has it occured to be that an iPad app could be used as medicine for the soul I love this app Its beautiful peaceful and Im a part of it                 Music Art as Medicine
Very glad to have this longtime iPhone app in iPad form Sound and colors are richer but do not offer any greater variety Fortunately the looping effect of the chosen range is sufficiently soothing that I continue to be pleased Extension of its capabilities would be great but its worth the price as is                 Instant meditation in an app
This app puts me into a neartrance of relaxation Gorgeous sound and visuals completely unique No musical skill required Highly recommended                 Hypnotic deeply relaxing
I love this app but give me a break Requiring only the latest iOS version is ludicrous App developers should have learned this by now after 3 dot releases of iOS 4 set your Base SDK to 43 but your deployment target to something reasonable like the last iOS version at a minimum but even better set it to 32 As it happens I am updating to 43 today but its irritating that Im now motivated in a large part due to the failure of this to install properly     Requiring iOS 43 is a bad move
