I wanted this app badly enough in 2011 to start designing one for the iPhone Now I can use the latest Birdseye version without doing any of the work Fantastic You can also get instructions from eBird that make it pretty simple to bring over your bird list history via submitting observations to eBird as 111900 incidental reports choose the Hide option when you submit label comments as life list only It still needs missing data songs photos description info for some birds in less trafficked areas but it is very well designed and a godsend for birders who travel worldwide while keeping track of their life birding list                 World birding made easier easier
Provides a great tool for finding birds                 Great Research Tool
Works for me              Great
I am using it for my trip to Costa Rica this fall and I have downloaded the images and sounds and am practicing as well as checking out the reported species in all my target areas down there I am more prepared for this trip than I have ever been for a birding trip before Its perfect that I can see what birds are near my lodge in October when Ill be there and the Smart Search is going to come in handy a lot I think                 A Best birding app updated
I like the new search by color feature Im a pretty solid birder but still it is surprisingly useful when i travel What are the expected yellow warblers in this area This gives me an instant answer Great in Mexico Love it BirdsEye is my goto app for finding birds when I travel This most recent upgrade just made it better I feel the need to disagree with the reviewer who said that they took away features huh The features have expanded tremendously over the last year There have been frequent upgrades each with new features There are a bunch of things I would like to see improved including The app is designed for iPhone It works fine on my iPad although the screen resolution is not optimized for iPad so it looks a little rough in this format Also it doesnt rotate                 Indispensable for serious birders in North America
This app does what it says it will and its the best I know of for quickly accessing recent sightings However theres a lot of obvious and rather basic functionality thats missing For example 1 The filtering system while useful is rather limited It should allow restricting sightings to specific geographic areas rather than just allowing a distance radius And the date and distance selections should be continuous rather than 71428 days and 1510etc miles or kilometers 2 Mapped sightings should allow viewing the underlying ebird checklist perhaps in a browser popout as the ebird app does 3 Location pages should allow the user to list recent sightings not just show bar charts though the bar charts are really useful Finally the photos sounds etc are an unnecessary addition I use dedicated apps with much better functionality for those purposes              Good could be better
Very handy app Certain aspects of the interface are a little confusing region lists mainly but its a great mobile resource for both general bird data and especially ebird data Handy for listing in conjunction with Birdlog                 Very useful
BirdsEye and BirdLog are my number one birding apps now I have several birding apps but they are mostly unused now With BirdsEye for finding and BirdLog for recording I just dont need the other apps And because they are connected to eBird the data gets better and is useful to other birders Fantastic                 BirdsEye
Used to work reasonably well Now I cant even open it     Crashes every time now
One of the buggiest apps I use and periodically useful but fond of failing in a variety of ways The newest subscription model is markedly less useful than the original version        Not recommended
Keep those updates and features coming                 Critical
Its handy for finding out whats been seen nearby              Birds Eye
Nice syncing with ebird but subscriptions seem a bad deal Including expected as well as birds seen at a given sight would be an improvement This would be particularly important in little visited areas with historic sightings              Good app
The best way to record birds anywhere in the world                 Birdseye
The NEW BirdsEye gives the serious lister everything he or she needs in their pocket Really what more do you need This app keeps getting better As a subscriber I have access to all of the features the app has to offer Nonsubscribers have access to a portion of the species to get a feel for the app If you pay for a monthly subscription it will only help make the app better The app is very complex and probably takes hours and loads of cash to pay programmers to build and make better So if you really like the fact of having an allinone app on your phone bite the bullet and pay the subscription fee Its only a few bucks a month and well worth it BIRD ON                 Subscriptions will only make this app better
Love getting plugged in to the local ebird info as I travel              Great help
Best where there are lots of bird users              Good Ap
A BirdsEye is the best easiest way to discover what birds have been observed by other folks around you It leverages the eBird database to show you the avian biodiversity that has recently been reported in your neck of the woods or prairie or desert etc This app will also reference your own account at eBird to whittle down the list of what birds you might be most interested in if you havent reported them yourself All all BirdsEye is a solid product for serious birders and this company had done more to advance the entire industry of smartphone app for birders than any other company                 Best app for discovering what birds are around you
I hate how I would have to pay for a membership in order to see all nearby birds I dont want to have to spend extra money every month just to see nearby and rba of the area It makes you pay to see anything more than the 100 most common birds in your area and the RBAs This personely is a downgrade from previous birdseye apps If you dont want to spend lots of money for a minor adjustment to previous apps this is not the app for you     One of my Least Favorite Apps
This is the most amazing app I have ever seen If you love birds then this is a must Go ahead and spring for the world membership 5 a monththats very reasonable This app is complete easy to use and an absolute joy                 Unbelievable
Very useful but wish you could share life lists with people and post pictures of sightings                 Great
I used to really like this app then after using the app for a couple years I suddenly found I was locked out I realized they wanted me to register Next came limiting of content and paid subscriptions to get access to what we originally uderstood to be purchased Also I notice they try to obscure that the inapp purchases are MONTHLY costs not totals so it is very expensive        Rule change for previously purchased app
I was looking for a good app to start my list of birds Ive seen over my life and this is it                 Love it
Thought I would buy this app since the ebird website works horribly on iPhone App is a poor substitute for the website Cant limit date range for searches what was near me last weekrecent to the app can mean weeks or months Cant see individual reports by birders which often contain notes about numbers behavior specific locations etc Wish I had my 20 back Update Here we are a year later and nothing has been updated regarding these features Update 42015 They added filtering by range and date which is great Still cannot see the ebird field report for all observations only for some        Disappointed
Im doing a Texas Big year and this is my go to tool It shows me my totals and needs and helps navigate to sights                 My best tool for a big year
Great app but some difficulty getting up to date sightings known and reported ebird sightings dont always get entered in timely fashion and local interesting birds that are not at hotspots are not always listed Yet is a fabulous addition for bird watchers              Birdseye
I was recently on the road and did some focused bird watching It was my first use of the new version I found it easy to use and very helpful It presented me with a list of birds expected to be seen in the area which made entry very simple              Useful tool
This app is very useful when you want to see what birds are being seen in an area You can choose a particular location and see a bird list from that spot What I wish it had was the capability to enter the name of a bird and see the locations where the bird is being seen Right now you have to find the bird on a list and choose from the list So you cannot see where a bird is being seen without first finding it on a list Nevertheless I do find the app helpful and recommend it to all birders           Very Helpful
I use this app every day for birding more than any field guide Its always in my pocket and is more relevant than a guide It helps me see what is around any area I am visiting so I can find new birds I just picked up a ton of lifers in Texas using BirdsEye to get around This app was one of the main reasons I got an iPhone in the first place keeps getting better Keep up the awesome work guys                 Getting me more lifers
First purchases should be onetime deals not monthly subscriptions I use BirdsEye in collaboration with BirdLog NA and Merlin Bird ID Why is need 3 apps instead of 1 is still beyond me I use Merlin to ID BirdLog to enter info and BirdsEye to more easily see all my inputs and see whats nearby Thats about all its good for if you dont wanna pay monthly           Its ok
Very pleased              App
I love the Birds Around Me feature                 Great App
Very good and intuitive app New feature requests Share checklists Edit checklists Organize species list by bird family like eBird Retain recentlocal hotspots in DB not on device had to rebuild hotspot list after I got a new phone              Very good almost there
While taking a family trip around Europe Rome Vienna Paris and Madrid this app was very helpful locating city hot spots and species reported                 Regional Hot Spots
Been using this app for serious birding and it is great Smart search is really cool addition and love the sound samples Pretty much a must have for birding local or abroad                 Great Updates
I always wanted to know what those birds were this update is pretty epic especially with the World Membership that puts all the freakin birds in the entire world at my fingertips Makes me excited again for fall migration                 Pretty cool
Great app Use it to locate birds that Ive yet to see Heading to south Texas soon and have already scouted ahead for species Bar graft for populations based on time of year is also very useful Use it daily to keep track of new finds or rareunusual sightings in my area Works great in conjunction with Birdlog app                 Great app
This app is improved dramatically It enhances my Birding experience no matter where I am in the world I honestly use this app every time I go birding and Im very pleased when I do It is accurate timely very welldesigned and completely user friendly                 Great Customer Support
Ive been using for over 3 years Pulls ebirdorg data and makes it usable to find the birds or locations you want Indispensable when traveling                 Great birding app
I have been using this app since its introduction years ago Upgraded to the latest version and paid for the Mexico pack for my vacation This caused the app to crash on startup This is still not resolved and I am now back from the vacation where I really could have used the app The app still will not open after lots of trouble shooting At least the free version could open     Subscribed to Mexico killed the app
Every time you open it it displays a pop up begging for a positive review That cost it three stars for annoyance        Great app but
I wouldnt have been able to find nearly as many birds without it I do the 299 subscription                 Birders goldmine
Great App Great for seeing where birds are in areas around you                 Great App
I absolutely love the ease and the accessibility of this app Gives me new locations to explore and shares data with other users Fantastic                 Fantastic app
I have this and iBird This app is my favorite for finding hot spots to go birding              Really Great App
This and Bird Log together help me keep track of which birds are showing up where                 Very Handy
This is my go to app for finding birds identifying birds and keeping my lists                 Great App
I only have free version impossible to edit on iOS system Cool it links to BirdlogNA              Ok
Worth every penny but mostly Im writing this in hopes the app will quit asking me to write a review              For birders
Great app for when you are on the go Wherever you are you can find out out which birds have been reported nearby and which ones you need for the county state country or ABA You can see your life needs or just for the current year Fast and reliable                 Great for travel
