Weve been buying the review books each time we visit the islands and they were exceptional the app is better We recommend it to everyone we talk to that is thinking about coming to Hawaii                 And I Thought The Book Was Good

This has been what we have said throughout our trip to the Big Island I stumbled upon this app and one thing I know for sure is that our trip would not have been the same without this app After researching all of the things to do and places to go we revamped our trip to get the best of everything while we were there This map allowed us to sight see without wasting money on tours that would have taken us to the same places After all as my husband and I have said over and over againbest app ever Thanks for making our trip a memorable one                 Best App Ever

One of the very few apps Ive paid for and the only app Ive taken time to review Brutally honest useful information for those of us who can handle the truth or at least a reasonable sane version of it You dont have to agree with everything but theyve presented it a format thats like speaking with a neighbor I love it                 Ono

We used the app constantly during our trip to the Big Island The best part of the app was that it made it easy to locate great things to do or see around your present location We definitely experienced a few sights we wouldnt have found if not for the app Highly recommended Only one word of caution it is a big app so make sure you have a wireless connection before downloading                 Great app

Im giving it one star because they have removed this old version and I had to buy it TWICE Apparently they are keeping it up to bilk and confuse people with accidental second purchases Do us a favor and take down the old version of your books     Dont buy this version

Ive used the book version of this guide and theres no debate to its value However the app really doesnt deliver what I had hoped its basically parts of the book content shown using a real big map that you sort of click around on and thats about it Given that this is digital it would be nice to see photos with every place trip routes planning and an indication of whats been updated As is stick with the book version and get yourself a souvenir           Great book poor app execution

This app was recommended to me from a family member who used it on a trip Its incredible I love that the tips make you feel like youre talking to a true local the quips about the government are funny I wish there were more maps in the app to show you where everything is and more pictures Otherwise this was invaluable information to have handy on our trip              Near perfect

I hate carrying extra weight while traveling so this was a perfect solution for carrying the best locationaware guide around in my pocket The only flaw is that it relies on apple maps and those are pretty unreliable in the unpopulated areas of the big island It would be REALLY cool if it had an audio book aspect where the content could be listened to while driving                 Awesome cheaper and more useful than the alreadygreat book

Please remove old version from App Store or at least upgrade old app to 7th edition instead of charging us twice It comes up first while searching and theres no reason not to remove it Otherwise great app and book     Old version

This app was the only thing better than haveing the Big Island Revealed book is haveing the app I read up on stuff before we went but using the app when we were there helped a lot Finding things near me and finding a particular place on the map was very helpful                 The only thing better than the book

We no longer take any books to the islands Every time before we eat or go anywhere we check the app Dont leave home without it Found many cool new places Been to the islands over 16 times and app still gets me places I have not seen                 Easy button

I have been going to the Big Island for years and thought I had seen a lot of what the island has to offer After using this app I discovered so many more places I would like to go see It is well written with a knowledge of someone who has obviously been to the Big Island many times and went on many adventures It was written with a great sense of humor as well                 Great App

I have never spent more than 3 bucks for an app for my iPad or iPhonewith the exception of this one It was worth it A great companion to the book which I read before we left It helped me to navigate to two restaurants and our horseback riding pickup point that the GPS didnt have the streets for When we changed our plans on the fly it was great to look up something in the index and get directions Since you get the whole book on your phone it wont use data unless you turn on the locator function which you can shut off whenever you want                 A fantastic app

This app was great We loved the locate me part of the app It brought us to some great must see locations along our trip to Hilo                 Must have app if traveling to the Big Island

Now I dont have to pack 3 books If youre going to more than 1 island Id say you could buy 1 book to get the gist of the authors style Then buy the apps instead They pack well                 Very helpful

I bought this app for my iPhone 5 when I arrived on the Big Island 12 days ago have been using it constantlyloved it came to rely on its map feature Suddenly the map function became glitchy and now the entire app is not functioning All other apps including map apps are fine Developersplease look into this Malhalothanks           Glitchy after 12 days

We were familiar with the guidebook from previous trips The books are probably the best guide book that wed ever purchased The interactive app is superb and greatly enhanced our trip The find me feature was a priceless tool that showed us everything around us as well as gps mapping that made it a breeze to find things The authors reviews were spot on and fun to read One word of advice trust the review If they say its not great it isnt Youll love the app                 Outstanding tool

Since there is a more recent version of the app this older version should be removed unless there is a compelling reason to have this as a separate app which I fail to see     Remove obsolete version of app

I would like to limit all this spectacular information to my family and friends only Dead on accurate A fabulous value and a must have for any 1st time visitor                 Dont Purchase

I have every edition of the book but love the way the app is put together It is so easy to access information by accessing the area you will visitthat is what I love most You still get all the photos that are in the book and with the App you can search much quicker than suint the book indexI LOVE THIS APP                 Priceless App

The app is very well done and is a great portable companion to the book In the future I would like to see the maps in the app as detailed as in the book Some info is missing makes bringing the book along on all of your trips a must Dont know If its a cost thing or an intended means of selling both the book the app But I would pay extra to have the app as complete as the book Convenience complete smartphone integration is the wave of the future              Almost perfect

Ive been using this book for almost ten years on trips to the Big Island Dont go there without it Best that there is for this island Their Kauai Revealed is also a must have if you are going to that island                 Big Island Reviewed

In Kauai a few years ago we used Kauai revealed to find our way around the island On the big island now and use this app to research where to go how to get there what to take etc It has taken the trial and error out of vacation which we both needed I cant believe it was only 700 Author did an incredible job                 Dont go without it

Have hold back a star iPad has to use iPhone resolution And map navigation was messed up but that was Apples fault              Saved my a couple times

I have a home on Hawaii and I absolutely LOVE this ap We love to hike the various trails on the island and it never fails to get me out of trouble when getting lost on volcanic trails Plus the historical information is superb I have recommended this ap to many friends going to Hawaii                 The Big Island

Been a big fan of the books since we went to Maui in 2005 this was an added help with the book The big island is so much bigger hence the name right Very helpful in finding the locations and the restaurants highly recommend                 A great resource while bouncing around island

This is a best Big Island interactive guide we discovered so far The map and nearest places feature are must to have if you are exploring Best Island by self Dining recommendation and reviews are very accurate and helps to pick the best places hint most expensive or most advertised places might be not the best Hiking guides are very useful the map lists some trails you might be unable to discover by self at first attempt                 Best Big Island guide app

I bought this app after reading about it in the guidebook under the same name While we used the guidebook for planning this app was helpful since we could mark the places we wanted to visit and to eat at then use the GPS and maps integration to get us there                 Used with Guidebook

This is one of the most helpful apps I have ever used The interactive map feature works perfectly with my iPad GPS The author keeps it up to date and is spot on regarding his assessment of locations activities and restaurants It has been a huge help on our trip as it is easier to follow than the hard copy book                 Best App

I bought the book and then decided to get the app as well once I arrived on the Big Island One thing that would make this 5 stars would be a way to coordinate your favorites A way to map out a trip for all the points if it was a day or two If there is a way I havent been able to find it Allinall a great app It also lists as an iPhone only app but it works on iPad just fine              AWESOME

5 star app We used it for everything while on The Big Island Accurate and great tips We used this app almost exclusively while dining touring and activities Would only change the rating of Jacks Diving Locker This is a 5 Star outfit And needs A real gem addition We went on 3 different snorkel tours and our Grandsons were introduced to scuba This is a great snorkelscuba resource and they gave us great advice on where to go on our own Humps restaurant next door is tolerant of our boys eating a picnic at their tables with a view of the water while we ordered a beverage and sandwich also convenient parking available We have been to Hawaii before and said we really do need to try another island but now we are thinking of returning and perhaps doing Jacks Diving Locker tours all over again plus a couple of more The recommendation for The Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona and Mauna Lani were great and we enjoyed both places very much Pats Pies is definitely a great find and whats not to love about Donkey Balls                 Big Island Revealed

I bought the guide books Kona Revealed and Big Island Revealed I read them cover to cover due to their comprehensive informative and enjoyably conversational tones Then bought the apps when I was about to leave for our first trip to the islands The information is priceless you might find yourself more informed than many locals You can plan your trip out in exquisite detail or just grab your phone and make last minute informed decisions I have been back several times now and would never dream of going without my app in hand The author will get you where you want to go using any means possible Whether it is just a street name and a fork in a dirt trail by mile marker or telephone pole such and such The details are specific He and his team rate business five star restaurants to roadside vendors national parks to random lava tube caves and five star hotels to sleeping on the beach If you can do it in Hawaii he will inform you how to where to and help you to make an informed decision as to whether you should do itwell worth every penny and entertaining reading to boot                 A MustHave app

I purchased the guide book for Kauai when we stayed there in 2008 We loved the book so much that when we decided to plan a vacation to the Big Island I bought this book too When we arrived on the island and unpackedno book Not to be deterred I started pricing out books online and found this Ap instead I am so glad I left the book at home and bought this Ap This Ap was an amazing tool that amused and guided us to out of the way treasures Every time we got in the car I opened the Ap on my smart phone and we planned our route Being able to watch our progress with the moving blue dot and drill down to the streets kept us from getting lost and guided us to all of the recommended spots of interest we chose to see I could not give this Ap a higher recommendation When we were leaving for the airport a newly arrived couple stopped us and asked where a good place to eat was We gave them a name and then I asked if they had a smart phone They were downloading this Ap as we drove away Mahalo                 Excellent

Great way to explore the Big Island We spent 8 days exploring the Big Island and we never failed to find something interesting to do or a great place to eat with this app Highly recommended I would still plan your day trips but fear not with this app of finding something you would not expect to in your travel For instance the sweet n short bakery in Hilo out of the way location but an awesome lunch is served and the deserts are out of this world The app pointed this gem out to us on out day trip to Hilo and the volcano                 Amazing way to explore the Big Island
