I like the plot of this game quite a lot Spiderweb did a great job of creating an intricate story while keeping people hooked for a sequel with a spectacular ending Another thing I like is the difference in game mechanics it gives players the power to develop their own strategy Healing outside of combat is by far my favorite Other things to note include the class based skill trees which offer a variety of ways to play and the character classes are significantly different to justify the use of classes in general Items like food and blessing crystals can make a huge difference in this game but pure stats and equipment tend to make a lesser difference Finally the ability cooldown system is pretty neat and helps balance the game in an interesting way Last thing to note is the level cap while 30 does seem low and I d still argue it should be like 5 to 10 levels higher it is not all that bad as it seems by the time I finished the game I was around level 25 to 26 Note I finished the game on Normal Difficulty with no cheats                     Great Story and Mechanics Nicknames Are Stupid981353278

This game works great on my iPad 4 Controls are easy to use unlike the Baldur s Gate iOS ports This is a wonderful turn based RPG with a complex story setting characters and moral choices You do need to get past the very simple graphics and audio compared to many modern games but I actually found that enhances my ability to fill in the mental picture myself as the game goes along Well worth the price                     Wonderful story driven RPG GoGadgetGo

Great game awesome plot lots of treasure I m glad I own an iPad so I can play it You can change the orientation in the settings if you want to play with the home button to the right That being said it does stutter a bit on my iPad mini even with all other apps fully closed Especially noticeable in combat Also now that I use the inverted display setting the touch accuracy gets wonky Makes everything harder when the game thinks you tapped somewhere you didn t Force closing the app and relaunching it fixes it temporarily                     A few performance issues but a great game Cheayo

If Escape From The Pit is like 3rd edition D D this is like 4th edition The scale is very strange Everything is way too big The humblest farmhouse is like Grand Central Station The box text describes something you see to the north and you have to search across three screens before you actually see it The box text describes you squeezing through a narrow crack and you see an opening four people could walk through side by side You can actually sneak past some foes but when you re not in combat mode they keep moving even when you don t This makes following someone which you have to do frustrating as they easily outpace your ability to swipe and tap the screen Or you sneak past the patrol you re not supposed to fight check the map then oops You re in combat now because they kept moving while you had the map up And you need the map a lot to get any sense of where you are because the spaces are so ridiculously enormous It s a weird arcade like feature for a turn based game Clearly a lot of work went into the story and there s an incredible amount of gameplay here for the money And the ending explains why all the quests and companions were so illogical and annoying But still they were             Not as fun as Avernum Escape From The Pit Binky The Hand

I really wanted to love this I played the demo on the Mac found it on the iPad and was enthralled I love the story and the play Except for the crashing Again and again Yet I d restart and be OK Until well near the endgame when almost all my saves were lost Without useful tech help I managed to replay one not too far back and get close to the end Again crashes hindered the enjoyment Still I finished Overall the story was great the tech problems horrendous hence a middle value review             Almost great play pathetic bugs Quinnovator

I ve put about 10 hours into Avadon and it s great if you fancy a mobile version of RPGs like Fallout and Baldur s Gate However I sometimes have difficulty hitting the Save Game button in the menu I ve actually accidentally loaded a previous save twice when trying to save because the save and load menus are so similar Not sure what the problem is Otherwise great game                     Great game sometimes buttons hard to activate Fanzipan

While this is quite easily the most enjoyable RPG available on the iPad there are however a few bugs The most grating is that for some inconceivable reason I am unable to gain entrance to the wizards tower in Wylrdrylm No matter how many times I talk with Carsta arl the dialogue options are always the same and it always ends with him assuring me entrance to the wizards tower yet the gate remains closed This bug is quite frustrating and is not permitting me to advance the main story thus I am holding my initial 5 star rating hostage until the issue is fixed             A Little Buggy XenooneX

Ok yes the graphics are old school and its a turn based rpg but I haven t enjoyed an iPad game this much in a long time The story is excellent the combat fun and it s actually an rpg not a FPS with a few rpg elements mixed in I have purchased many of the new graphically superior games on the iPad but although they look beautiful I usually get bored playing them after a few hours and I just delete them Not so with Avadon the game is deep fun and a blast to play Good job developers we need more games like this Can t wait for Avadon 2 someday and Balders Gate this fall I am so happy that the iPad has these great RPGs available I fear that every developer thinks all games have to be some kind of COD clone with a 4 hour campaign to be successful Gonna try out Avernum soon also great job Spiderweb                     Fantastic Game Xerxes1811

I ve been a fan of spiderweb software s games from Exile on but I cannot in good conscience recommend this release to anyone at least anyone with an iPad 1 The recurring freezing bug at the beginning of the first dungeon is bad as is the constant 2 5 second lag time between turns before the bug I ve tried closing all background apps and operations and rebooting the iPad It looks as though many people don t have these problems but all too many people do Though it s unplayable at the moment I can t wait to give it the five stars I know it deserves after a working release     Bugs and Lags Osoitito

The game itself is compelling deep and fun And despite being a high end game price wise in the world of iOS games anywhere else it is dead cheap there is tremendous value considering its length and content However be forewarned The game is buggier then my old college apartment Starting the game with no other apps open immediately after rebooting my iPad I still hit a massive glitch within ten minutes When entering the first dungeon the game refused to acknowledge any choice of a companion and would only allow me to proceed alone Bear in mind you are specifically told to take a companion into this dungeon Rebooting the game and reloading earlier saves let to the same issue Only dumping all the saves and restarting the game fixed the problem Happening at the very beginning of the game it was no big deal but can you imagine if it happened several hours in Also the game hangs constantly You will spend a lot of time waiting for the game to get on with it Normally problems like this would turn me off of a game but I no intention to stop playing The game itself is that good If an update fixes the glitches it will definately get that last star                 The game is great the software not so much Gnomekingofpain

The harshest of Redbeard s curses upon you Vogel You ve stolen countless hours of my time with this amazing game First of all I m only giving it 4 stars because it s a port of a PC game Yes it s a very well done port but it s hardly a game designed for iOS There s a bunch of spots where it s kinda tough to hit the right spot without being very specific and I ve lost a battle or two because I accidentally tapped in one spot where I meant the one next to it This is a minor quibble though the game is excellent overall Plus because it s on the iPad I can take it lots of places I wouldn t bother with a PC VERY well developed story very detailed maps areas to explore mega tons of side quests NPCs to talk to I m guessing I m about 1 3rd of the way through the game at this point but it s impossible to tell I don t think that every area of the grand map has as many explorable maps as the 3 I ve done so far but there s SO MUCH DETAIL here There s a small novel s worth of writing in the background of all these characters their countries I could go on on it s an AMAZING RPG                 Spectacularly Addictive ihnpts
