As a Chinese student who just came back to the US from Shanghai this is great promising app to read short China news summaries while practicing Chinese Hopefully this app integrates larger more in depth news stories in future updates              Promising App

The app is best for Intermediate and above as it doesnt provide explanations just translations and definitions for individual characters But this is all you should need if youve got the basics down Really excellent for studying on the go                 Excellent Chinese Learning App

One of the things I really love about Amanda is that you not only get the news story itself but also what people said about it in the comments section Thats a really nice touch It lets you know how people in China responded to the article                 Great app

Amanda helps me keep track of trending topics that as an expat I wouldnt have access to in China Now I can keep up with the latest news items trends and topics and can relate better with my Chinese colleagues                 I love this app

I really think thats a brilliant idea but it would be way better if the chinese was the traditional one from Taiwan is the best to learn and is the most right one              I think its a really smart app

Definitely a great app It is a very innovative idea to share Chinese trending news with translation and pinyin Users can both read the interesting story and learn Chinese at the same time I shared this app with a lot of my American friends whos learning Chinese and interested in Chinese culture They all loved it Also the interface is really pretty with a smart use of minimalism Very clean and beautiful Highly recommended                 Great app with innovative idea and beautiful interface

First of all I love the app Super innovative idea that solves a real problem for the Chinese learnerso much potential Also nice design to fit this use However I think it has two big drawbacks that are preventing it from being a legitimately useful learning tool 1 The chinese versions of the article are weird and seem to not be written by a native chinese speaker So if you want to read the articles in Chinese its kind of pointless Some translationese and weird grammar 2 The content is kind of biased and focuses too much on the weirdscandalous Chinese news stories We want more than just randominconsequential news I think thats the problem with ChinaSmack in general and why the site seems to have dropped in popularity over the yearschina is more complex than that now and as foreigners we also want to see the inside point of view on mainstream stories I think Like trending topics that get deleted or Chinese pop culture dramaframed in an ironic way Or something to that effect           Awesome idea but needs to be rethought

I like the idea However the earlier version enabled me to touch a word in English and see it in Chinese But this functionality is gone after an update Please bring it back and Ill increase the rating And please improve the time it loads the sounds Its slow Thanks        Was better before update

It gets me reading a little in Chinese So its perfect I enjoy the stories Theyre at a good level for me if I use the built in dictionary All in all its surprisingly good                 Fun and interesting
