As a passenger rather than a pilot I appreciate this app If I can t see the horizon out the window while flying I get a bit of vertigo the plane may stop turning but I feel like I still am until I fix my sight on the horizon This app helps by giving a virtual horizon I can see at all times that is immediately responsive to the plane s movements I have one suggestion or fix allow the cage button to be set while the device is laying flat like on the tray or on your lap Doing this in the current version works for all It the descending direction which never moves past level Great app thanks                 Passenger pov Rog667

Do a simple test place yourself on a office chair keep the phone stable and spin yourself The horizon will go bonkers while other Gyro assisted levels will be able to keep it straight     Does not hold the horizon LazaroFilm

Have used in flight in a c 172 indicates roll well but pitch doesn t seem to be working I m assuming my setting I The vibration correction is wrong or my use is incorrect so I ll continue testing Overall this is a really really inexpensive backup ai even for roll only in an emergency                 Works ok in flight Austin from Technical Instrument

Bank is not accurate at all I tried my iPad2 with this App in my Cessna 210 It accurately shows the initial bank angle then as the aircraft enters the turn and centrifugal force is applied to the iPad it displays a return to level flight This would be useless as a stand by attitude gyro Either the iPad2 s gyro is not a true 3 axis type or this App is not utilizing it properly     Doesn t Work in a Real Airplane Tim Drager

I tried it in my aircraft and it didn t really work at all With the wings level it would move all around to as much as 45 degrees off from actual I tried caging it over and over with the same result This was a very simple and straight forward test so I m pretty disappointed that it doesn t seem to work at all on my iPhone 4     Doesn t work but has potential PittsDriverWes

Nice work The degree of bank indicator should be fixed in pitch to the skypointer Said another way while demonstrating to students a chandelle the skypointer pitches above the bank angle arc and you cannot accurately determine your bank angle Would that be an easy software update Thanks                 Neat with a few quirks Extra300

I just bought this app about an hour ago and it don t even work well on the ground If you rest the edge of the phone on a table and cage the gyro to level it then bank left then right then put it back on the table it will not be level Mine was anywhere from a few degrees off to 90 degrees off In addition the bank angle pointer moves up and down with the horizon and is useless unless in the level pitch attitude This app is useless even for demonstration purposes I played with this in the air last night after giving an IPC The poor results were the same in the air as they were on the ground for me The air was Really smooth and the gyro still strayed     Needs to get better Shadowdog5000

I m also an Instrument Rated Pilot and at this point this app is horrible It you simulate just a little turbulence the Attitude Indicator gets screwed up and is very inaccurate You need to have at the top of both the iTunes description and on start up DO NOT USE FOR FLIGHT This warning needs to be clear and bold for those with no common sense I ll change this rating if you can get the app working properly I m sure figuring out the code is not easy and I appreciate the effort     Doesn t work IFR-Pilot

I Watched the video of this in actual flight clearly this is the only attitude gyro app that is even close to really working in a real airplane and for 99c I think this developer should charge more it must have cost thousands in fuel alone to test fly this Good Job I have tried all of the accelerometer based indicators they are useless for real airplanes Its great to see a Gyroscope based one finally I took this in my Cessna today the pitch was ok and the roll works at first but then seems to reset very slowly still much better than the old accelerometer ones I still give 5 stars because I see the Pilot developer is actively working on fine tuning this which can t be cheap to test fly and for 99c this is a steal less than a cup of coffee My son loves to play with it on the ground as well Good luck                     Cessna Flying surfboy007

Considering this was not a free app I would not recommend it at all without dev doing a LOT MORE work on adding some useful features Must have a zero function and a portrait mode if you fairly want to charge for this Other features would be nice ie gyro compass choice of a classic instrument view slip skid night view But zero and portrait modes are musts if you expect to collect a buck for this anemic app I will gladly amend my review with an update from the developer UPDATE added a star for ability to cage the roll axis but this should also apply to pitch I cannot view the screen in it s mount with the phone aligned perpendicularly to vert axis of the plane App continues to be of limited utility because of this I am impressed with the developers update frequency Atta boy Keep it up and make this a real app         Meh Smootchieroo

Been waiting for a program like this for a long time Does exactly what it says however as the author mentions there are some shortcomings in Apple s gyroscope implementation that need to be corrected for aircraft use If you are not using in an aircraft works better than any of the other apps So far this is the only app I ve seen that has a possibility of ever working in aircraft so in short it s the best one out there I applaud the authors work on this product I am curious if the gyro limitations are fixable in software                 Author is basically fixing Apple s shortcomings Dan dsfh

I m an ATP rated corporate jet pilot Ever since the addition of a solid state gyro was announced for the iPhone 4 I ve been very interested to see what kinds of aviation apps would be written that would utilize it This is the first attitude app that does so that I can find anyway and I am pleased with it for the most part Additions I would like to see are the option to scale the size the ability to operate in portrait or landscape with the addition of a traditional round dial presentation option a smaller pipper a dot in place of the little airplane that would allow for more precise pitch indications the indicators on the sides and top already show where the wings and angle of bank are and numerical designations every 10 degrees of pitch A slightly larger scale along with the smaller pipper would allow for more precise inputs Add these things and I ll change my rating to 5 stars I know this is not FAA approved but the honest truth is I wouldn t hesitate to use it if I had a complete electrical failure including standby instruments and I had no alternative At least it would keep me straight and level until I could find a good patch of VMC Can t wait to see what developers do with a the 7 inch gyro enabled iPad reported to be coming out early 2011 Update I rescind everything i said above On the ground it seems like it would work flawlessly but it absolutely does not work in flight Don t waste your money on this novelty and please do not attempt its use in flight as a backup or otherwise 1 star until it is fixed     Not Bad FlyAuburn

I like that it uses the gyroscope I d like to see it work through all attitudes and I d like to be able to calibrate it at will say for a dash mount or to operate in portrait mode                     Not bad Celeritas 5k
