Wow This amazing bilingual app has illustrations in rare handpainted animated watercolor The poems are short but sophisticated As a language teacher I was impressed by the quality of the rhymes and images in both languages Its hard to tell which is the original language both work so well The touchactivated glossaries in English and French not only give meanings but explain the rhymed metaphors My grandchildren are not old enough to read yet but they can understand the English glossary which comes with optional sound They had fun making up tunes on the flowering shoots in the April poem a shoots a flute and waiting for the ducklings to sing them back note for note They loved opening and closing the gorgeous peonies of May to see the bees inside as well as touching the boat to fill the sail with wind in the June poem This is an app children and adults can enjoy even if they dont know a word of French The pictures go so well with the poems they help even the youngest children to understand them Both female narrators have lovely voices too                 Fantastic Art and Poetrya Rare Combination for the Ipad

Is this a book or a painting Im not surebut it doesnt matter It is lovely and charming Cant wait to show it to all the children I know to watch them discover the hidden gems                 This is exquisite

I fell in love with this app Its lyrical in every sense and the voices of both the French and English speakers are sounds to cherish Nothing is rushed no feeling of getting bumped about just moving within a pleasant experience while switching between languages Theres a fine balance happening between the poems the animated illustrations fabulous art work and the narrators that children seem to pick up on We used it for a French child learning English and an English teen learning French The glossary is appreciated and provides an additional layer to the understanding of words The simplicity of the poems allows kids to focus on learning whats in front of them giving them a strong sense of use of language and all its cadences                 A Words a Bird
