This is a great tool that not only plays the sounds it also shows how the sounds are broken up and has animations of the heart so that you can visualize what you are hearing The volume does need to be at the loudest setting Helpful

Being a Critical Care nurse This app is disappointing You can read about the abnormal heart sounds but you cannot listen to them They have S1S2 but thats it Would be good if it actually worked Disappointed
Littmann has done a great deed in developing this app It provides lessons on diaphragmbell positioning and heart sounds but it fails in sound quality On both iPad and iPhone with the volume high you can barely make out the heart sounds it produces This is even with placing the speaker directly next to your external canal I would love to use this more as a mobile teaching model so that students may hear what I am trying to explain when a patients with similar conditions are not available Littmanns only suggestion is to wear headphones which is not always practical Needs better sound quality
Several commenters complain about the need for headphones to hear the sounds Heart sounds are low frequency the first and second heart sounds are around 100 hz Murmurs are somewhat higher The tiny speakers in iphones and ipads are not capable of playing those sounds with any volume If you want to use this app in a lecture hall it can be done by buying a pair of powered speakers They can be had for as little as 100 and are capable of filling an average sized lecture hall with sound Need for headphones
Not working at all Continues to freeze up on the cardiac sound page The cardiac sounds are pretty good but I never got the chance to listen to the lung sounds the app wont let me go back to the home screen Freezes
I really liked the first version of the app but now with the looping heart sounds I can really learn through repetition Its great Thanks Littmann Better learning

Was really interested since Im a CT nurse however even with my headphones I dont get a sound or either I get a way too loud sound like my speakers are going to blow out No sound

I couldnt hear anything at first but when I hit the full on the middle 2 pages then I could hear the sound in the animation page 4th page The sound quality for some wasnt great the PDA animation is correct for RL shunting but not for LR shunting Sound quality
This is an amazing app It is really organized and very helpful to me as a medical student The only disadvantage this app has is that the volume of the sounds is a bit low I had to stick my ear to the iPad speaker to listen to some of the sounds Anyway this app definitely deserves five stars Wonderful
